Thanks Spla ... There is still a few bits to sort out ... a few vacum leaks etc

The power is just stupid ... I had to wind it back and still need to go back more .. when it is back at the 300 mark I will be happy ... Who would have guessed there is such a thing as too much power ...

I will be building a rear diffuser and splitter over the next few weeks ... also a full custom exhaust with a twin exit where the rear number plate is ... Hope nothing catches fire ... Also will have a screamer pipe exiting the drivers side vent on the rear quarter ...

So basically you proved that its possible to get over 400bhp on pretty much stock internals out of a rev2 and all thats required is a big turbo, big intercooler, thicker head gasket and an ECU to have everything working in harmony.

Re: Japohara Track car build 7 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 88
It has been a while but I have finally started to do work again on the MR2 ...

Engine is out again and rebuilding it from ground up with everything new ... 110% reliability is the aim ...

Engine is on the trailer and on it's way to Stone Motorsport in the morning ... The car will follow down in a few weeks once I have all the bodywork tidied up and the new livery on it..

Then engine and gearbox back in and get it mapped ..

As it will be racing in the Future Classics next year I am going to have to remove a fair bit of power so I dont break the time barrier ... It will be tricky to figure out exactly how much power I should have in it but that's what testing is for...

If all goes to plan the car will be unveiled at the Truck show in Mondello ... Failing that it will be a japfest ...

Re: Japohara Track car build 7 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 88
Ok guys some changes again to my plans with the car ... well should i say upgrades and downgrades ....

Firstly when stripping the vinyl off the car a previous paint colour revealed itself and some lacquer peeled ... So what do you do only a full respray ... This is currently 75% finished ... including some spare body panels ... There will be a new livery ...

So back to the upgrades ... well as follows ..

Full Polybush kit ( stiffer for better handling )
New Exhaust manifold ( slight modifications )
Owens Development Turbo ( smaller for less aggressive power delivery Some call that a downgrade)
Fully Stone Motorsport built race engine ( for reliability with every component replaced inside )
Cusco Diff ( Just getting a change from 2 way to 1.5 way for corner entry )
Lightened Flywheel and 6 puk carbon ceramic clutch ( Better clutch and quicker revs )
Stand alone ecu ( for full custom mapping with 5 maps stored and data logging)
Digital Touch Screen Dash ( obviously to be a dash but also as an interface to the ecu)

I will try keep you updated as I go ... Just keep forgetting about the forum
