Nasty man very nasty , if its the car im thinking it is there are a few parts you could sell to get some money back , or it might not be that bad you could be lucky
Is it the car with the fensport turbo and bosch injectors and few other bits ?

If the timing slipped thats not really a major problem since valves and pistons dont interfere.
Is the oil pressure light working properly, is oil pressure and level ok?
Have you a video maybe?

Hi lads thank, the oil preussue light as far as I can see is broken, and ya that's the one with all the gear loaded on it supposedly but I say I can't do much except collect the car somehow in Tipperary and ringgit home, take out the engine and strip it to see if it can b rebuild at the mo there is unbelievable noise coming from it like smacking, no videos as it's still in Tipperary I struggled to get home yesterday.

like slpa300 said, even if the belt snaps its a non interference engine so pistons and valves dont meet, sounds big end bearings

Oil light broke and thick oil in it sounds like the guy knew it was on the way out pulled out the light and put thicker oil in it to stop the sound so he could sell it ,

so you know what went. I have seen video and this engine seems to work nice and smooth (apart of noice) - the good thing is most of Rev3+ engines end life with ringlands being blow off and engine block being scrached. So in your case it should be easy to get just the used crank shaft and new bearings .

I had the same issue with CA18DET (EU 200sx engine 1.8 turbo) my worked out with 0,05 over size bearings and skiming crank to size - car nearly broke in half from rust years later and engine with 300k+ km was still going.

Problem was that previous owner when herd noise from bottom end , he just replaced bearings and sold the car. Tolerance in jap engines is very small so if it knocks you have to go 1 stage oversize and skim it professionaly or will be a disaster (my 200sx lasted 3 monts before blowing motor)

anto300zx yust to have engine with good bootom check with him - it was 2 years ago but he may know something.

Well everyone no good news on this matter so far it's been taking out and when the mechanic too it out he smashed the rear window the engine fell and smashed the intake manifold, that's one bad story and now the worse story is the only thing good on the engine is the gearbox the rest is cooked. so I'll b leaving putting the turbo into my mr2 for a while , will b taking the engine apart to see the damage but as far as mechanic said it's too far damaged to repair and the turbo is fucked!!!

How in the name of good god did he manage to smash the back window taking the engine out ... and then drop it .... you lift the car off the engine and the engine comes out under the car ... 4 or 6 bolts in sub frame disconnect the shock top mounts and 3 engine mounts ... a handfull of wires, pipes and gear linkage ... then you actually just lift the car over the engine ... It's not even that heavy 2 lads could do it ... or one hardy buck ... then you have engine, subframe, engine loom, gearbox, and suspension all in one manageable lump ... and no damage to anything

I don't wish to insult your mechanic but it would appear he has no knowledge of MR2's I would be looking for someone who has some better experience with these cars ...

mr2.ie/mr2-forum/28-how-twos/31882-replace-broken-rear-window

knew it would help somebody someday!

awful shame about the car maybe try and do a list of what you need and see if we can help. i have parts lying around they're all rev 2 stuff tho. i know you need an engine but really you need a short block someone might have one taking up space somewhere just have to put the time and graft in then you will be rewarded some day! so many getting broke nowadays it's a lot easier to get parts even from england if you have to.

i done the big ends in in my mk1 years ago got them replaced twice and ended up going to IVI and getting a new 4AGE. unless you get the crank professionally skimmed and new bearings fitted properly it'll probably work out cheaper getting another somewhere

www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=187241

one in the UK carriage might cost a bit tho
