3SGE GEN3 Wet Sump? 7 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 5
Looking to take my 94 Celica St202 to the track, my main worry is oil starvation I read these have a wet sump would a possible slight overfill be needed for peace of mind. Anyone any experience of these celica's or 3sge for track use they have good pedigree but becoming old cars now mines seems decent good box good power delivery no real play on steering etc.

I have ... Nothing to worry about at all ... Just take it out and enjoy it ... The celica is hard on front pads and boils the brake fluid so make sure its fresh stuff

I gave built 2 of the 3 that race in future classics ... all standard engines

Never had an issue with the 3SGE engine on slicks so you should be ok. You can buy kits now that weld in if you know of somebody that can do it for you.

The 2ZZ engine however is a different kettle of fish, blew up one engine so far this year, due to the lack of a baffle, no issues with the new engine.

Short clip of the trackday didn't push to hard due to a warp disc developing. Great cars these could def be pushed a lot harder in the corners they grip very well. 200 miles round trip and 4 sessions on 40quid worth of fuel cant beat that.

Only thing I found is 3rd gear doesn't seem to be the strongest in these heard the same about the NA MR2 and if your threw them in 2nd in some of these corners the revs would be to high.
