Just bought my second MR2 - Hi 8 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 5
Hi folks,

I've just acquired my second MR2. Its a 1999 rev 5 UK spec GT T-BAR. I'm a car nut in general but new to the Jap stuff.... Normally seen in old Peugeot GTi's.....

Any way hello and Ill be needing help no doubt...

So today was the first chance to get a good look at this.... My god its in good condition.

First of all I acquired the correct Rev 5 15" alloys.. They need a refurbish but as the only set for sale in the UK or Ireland I'm happy out.

Didn't even clean them yet..

Then to the bad running and failing to start issue.

I started by checking all the plugs and they look new, The HT leads also look newish with no cracks etc. and they fit snug onto the plugs so no concern there. Then I removed the Dizzy cap. Its ok if a little worn so Ill replace it anyway.

Then on to the coil..... This is not in good shape at all.... My money is definitely on the coli now as the problem.

Don't think Ill be wasting money replacing it..

Apart from that I have to get the roof seals sorted..... Ive affected a temporary fix so the seals are not leaking now but a more permanent fix is required.

Cant wait to get it on the road...

Good stuff - tony sorted you out so - great price for rev5 wheels

I got my rev5 wheels refurbed in wheel wizards finglas they done a great job no issues 2.5 years later.

If your around Dublin one of the evenings I'll give you a look at them and you can see for yourself

at the time it was 320eur for all 4 that included tyre removal / refitting, balancing, etc

Yep - bear in mind what they do is a proper powdercoating - some other outfits just spray the wheels

So with a new dizzy cap and coil fitted she is running 100%
