Two days after ordering it I got it, not the greatest crane I have used but it is fit for purpose.

It is not a question of how much power you are making to use proper coils, it is a question of how shit the stock setup is for accuracy.

If you monitor knock in any way, you will probably notice a load of random events using the stock system that will totally go away when you use a proper trigger wheel rather than the stupid stock spinning magnets.

I have also seen a lot of random signal failures on the stock setup, on several distributors, including a brand new one.

I'd be prepared to manufacture a few of my own trigger wheel 'kits' (Basically the same as that linked above) for less than what that ebay listing is for.

I'd be interested in that Mark. Any idea on cost or lead time? Or how many you'd need to make for it to be worth your while?

The only time involved is setting the program up on the CNC. I just leave it running and go for a pint!

That's handy to have! Can you make brackets for holding pipes, catch cans, stuff like that? I was thinking about doing some things up in autocad or solid edge and having emachineshop.com make them.

You should replicate the bracket that holds the clutch slave cylinder. No need for it to be as heavy as it is.

Think I might hire a van Martin. It's only €15 for the day. Should be able to get it out and get the crane back to yours in the one day.

I've also been in contact with a guy about a GT3071 kit. I know it's not going to make massive power but for now I think it should be a good fit. Good price as well.

You have one of these don't you Geoff? What do you think of them? I don't have the stroker kit like you but I'm sure it will be alright for my goals of about 400fwhp?

The GT3071 is a very good turbo for the MR2. It's not all about power, you want a street car that is also responsive and spool quickly. From the forums that I have read, there are a lot of people that would recommend a GT3071.

The 3071r is a capable turbo. Depending on your cam setup it can hit 400hp on a 3sgte stroked or not. You may have to run a higher boost but the turbo can take it.

Right well I think I'm going to go ahead with it and also the Link G3 ECU. I know they've been replaced with the G4 but the G3 was very capable when it was released and should have everything I need included. Does anyone know if it can handle coil-on-plug or will I need to keep the distributor?

Bought myself some new seats today. Recaro's from an Evo 7. Got them cheap enough and they're in very good shape. Just need to fab up some rails or get my hands on some SW20 recaro rails somewhere.

They're pricey bastards aren't they! Have you been in touch with DB8 on here? He can get wheels as well. He didn't have anything in the offsets I was looking for unfortunately.

Yeah I regularly check his wheels, those ones have a nice aggressive offset though, they will need some tweaking to fit nicely on a 2. I bought some camber bolts already as Im looking for aggressive wheels!
Those seats are sweet as well if I can't get the Recaro SR's Im after then Im getting a set of those!

Looks like I won't be able to afford the wheels at the minute. Want to get the engine sorted first. To that end I've just bought a Link G3 ECU and a set of 1ZZ COP's. Getting there. Fuelling, chargecooler and turbo left along with machine work and gaskets/misc.

Where did you buy the COPs and how much were they, if you don't mind me asking ?

The 1ZZ COP's were part of the ECU deal Martin. Got them off a member on IMOC.

Those wheel are amazing Geoff, aren't they! The sizes/offset were 17 x 7.5 +30 front and 17 x 9 +24 rear. They would have required some arch work but they would look amazing when fitted. I'll have them someday!

Have you decided on what line yourn going down with the fuelling, chargecooler and turbo yet?

I'm still trying to get the best possible option regarding turbo kit. There's a GT3076 and full race manifold on IMOC for £2000 or else KO Racings kit for around €1900. Then TB Developments have a kit for £2k or so.

Just to add to the thread I finally bought my chargecooler. It's a PWR barrel type rated to 1500hp so should do the job! Got it, rad, piping and pump for €440!

I'm also looking at a Caldina side feed manifold and top feed fuel rail from Oz. Should go well with the PWR. Just need to get injectors sorted, machine work and gaskets now along with the turbo. Unless I'm forgetting something - which I probably am!

Where did you source the charge cooler.

I haven't actually got the parts yet. Just paid for them over the weekend and the chargecooler today. Sourced the chargecooler on eBay through a member on IMOC. I'll put the pics from the eBay add up later when I'm not using my phone.

Are you using the Gen3 head? it has the same inlet port setup as the Caldina manifold.
