94 Rev 3 N/A Track Car Build/NOW BREAKING 9 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 29
Hey guys, going starting my first thread on a bit of a clean up on a 2. Got this car a few weeks ago and probably gonna use it for the track. Was gonna use it for the road but found few problems with it. it's running 100% but body isn't great.it got a belt awhile back on the passenger rear quater and was badly fixed by previous owners. So here it is a 94 rev 3 n/a tbar. First off the whole rear quarter and boot had to be sanded down and now will have to be repainted. Springs also have to be replaced as were cut by previous owner and needs an exhoaust system. Also have an n.a. lsd to go into it. Let the fun begin

Thanks lads. Can't Wait!! Story so far the plans are strip the interior and make as light as possible. Haven't got round to the spraying yet but decated it today. Also thinking of investing in coilovers. Now to the tuning side of things.. I'm looking for an aftermarket ecu to bring back the lost ponies. I've been thinking of port and polish but Jus wondering what is the max bhp I could squeeze out a rev 3 na? I know power isn't everything on track but just looking for realistic figures? I've heard that there was an mr2 racing series in Japan that ditched the 3sgte for a 3sge as they were able to get faster lap times? I presume this was due to turbo lag??? Any advise without lottery funds???

Forget the power . . . You will have plenty in the engine the way it is . . . Polish and porting is a pretty big job foe about 10bhp

suspension . . . Brakes . . . Tyres . . . Weight loss thats all you need

when you can get the best of that then spend money all the other stuff is cheap ish

Thanks jap. For now its just basic mods but I'm thinking down the road possibilitys.
Jus going to have a basic set up for the first track day and work from there. I could have two mr2s going up for the first track day. An na and a turbo. One of the lads is very interested in getting into this..

Jam ecu works well, hard to find but. They say they only work in jap models, if thats a UK and you want to know how to get it to work in that, drop me a PM.

In my opinion the best thing you can do for around mondello is to make her as light as possible...strip the shit out of her, you don't need a spoiler, that's only weight.
A good example of this is my mates puma v my mk2. They had the car stripped and the lap times were almost identical. 125bhp v 186bhp but I had about 300kg extra coming into and around corners.

Change to good brake fluid and pads and go out and enjoy her!

Look for out of date helmets if you want cheap ones. I got mine into the garage yesterday and will start cracking on it this evening.

Forgot to update this in awhile.. Finally got round to the passenger rear quater.. I knew something Didnt look rite when I bought it but at the end of the day its only a track car. But it started off as a bit of a tidy up. But once I started sanding I couldnt stop.
If ur squeamish look away!!! Lol

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

I had contemplated replacing the whole quater but alot of work so used a panel puller to pull most of the creases out and went over it with a thin layer of aluminum filler to try get it right.. All primered and ready for paint.. Probably saved about 10 kg in filler By the time I was done and less risk of the car pulling to the left. lol
