Hi Folks,

Wonder if anyone can offer me any idea have a rev 3 and of course aerial motor is not working. I managed to pick up a rev 2 working model and don't mint the little bee sting effect when its off. My problem is are they compatible fitted it no issue, but when I removed my own it was not connected. Now my new fit is not working finger on top I can hear better reception so connection to head unit seams to be there. My question is are they compatible? Fit seems fine to me just same problem after the fix of no power aerial.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Hi there, I've no direct experience working with the aerial on the MR2.

However... I do know one thing, if the headunit is aftermarket and it is not connected to a live/earth correctly, the aerial will refuse to budge up or down.

This happened to me a few weeks back, the aerial in this case was working, but its motor had no power from the headunit to rise up out of the body.
My solution was to splice a live correctly on the ISO harness and hey presto.

Is your headunit/radio factory or aftermarket?

Hi GZ
I've a rev 3 mr2 with an earlier Rev Ariel with the little bee sting effect too!
Goes up and down just fine but the OEM Ariel socket at the back for the radio for Toyota is a Large type and some after market radios need a smaller type. I don't know the exact electronics name for these but you get the point!
You will need an antenna adapter to make it fit, or a different radio!!
Any good car radio place should have this adapter or ebay if your brave enough to order
