I have looked at these from time to time.

First you need to have an idea of how much power you expect the MR2 to produce. If you think you will be increasing the power output in the future, then you should take that into account.

If I was going to install one, then I would probably pick and choose the parts individually rather than go for a kit.

Basic parts needed:

Air/water intercooler.
Pump.
Heat exchanger.
Filler/expansion pot.
Pipes.
Coolant.

You would also need to make your own brackets.

Get onto the celica forums, usually they upgrade to frontmount intercoolers and sell their chargecooler setups which are a factory fit on our engines.

Pump. (12V 4L/Min 100PSI Diaphragm Water Pump for around 20euro on ebay i used 2)
Heat exchanger.(Fiat Cinquicento Radiator around 20euro) I managed to get my hands on celica rad instead.
Filler/expansion pot. (coca cola bottle)
Pipes. (garden hose)
Coolant. (water)

Charge cooler .... they are full of water and heavy .... best to get an aftermarket intercooler

Wat kind of pump. Would an entire celica set up not just swap stright over wit few hose & bracket changes. As 4 weight once above 3-320 bhp the car is on edge of it's aerodynamic capabilty So. Power & style on my mind over the next 6 months

Yeah if you can get your hands on the whole setup, the only thing you will have to work on is making up brackets to mount rad up front and route hoses from front to back.

You will have more lag with intercooler and i dont think you want to use up your whole boot for an intercooler anyway.

Had a chat with a celica owner. Recons Gt4 owners swap out 4 a front mount and shouldn't be difficult picking a complete charge cooler set up. Murphys law though soon as I want 1 they nowhere ta be found.

Although it is a cheap pump,are you sure 4 liters a minute is enough ?

Typical Bosch pumps transfer 20 liters a minute.

I did mention im my first post on this thread that i used 2 of these pumps, so its 8L a min.
And yeah it seems to be enough, water is cold when i touch it.

I have 2 of them pumps installed in case 1 fails, using them just over 2 months now, driving the car every day with no problems or leaks, and have a third pump lying around just in case because they are cheap and i am wondering how long they will last.

Well it's good to know that a mod like this can be done on a modest budget.

Are they fish tank pumps. & wat the nct say about the wiring lol. 12v pump x 2 are they both working together or dose 1 take over frm the other wen nacker'd

That pic was taken before the setup was finished, the box is sealed now and no wires are visible.
They are both on the whole time when the ignition is turned on.

Yes you can get the pump thats originally meant to be with the system, i think it bolts to the bottom of the gearbox but these chineese pumps are a cheaper option, up to you which you choose to buy.

Todays purchase includes toyota pump. fiat radiator. mounting bracket. Throttle sock. Associated piping. Charge cooler

Awesome, all you need now is the piping, i dont think the piping you got there will be of any use to you.

You will have to remove the metal hook over the distributor by which you lift the engine because it will get in the way.

Also you will have to cut a couple of cm off the end of the 2 pipes, as you see in pic below they will be hitting off the filler pipe so cut at the red lines just before them ridges that stop the hose from sliding of.

Ok so it'll probably be next week wen I get a chance to start on it I'm not expecting it to be easy. Ive brackets to make 4 rad tank to drop clutch ta do sub frame to replace & so on plus I've the other car to finish stripping to make room 4 this 1 in shed anyway enough complaining as u would say(just do it)

The most difficult part is mounting the rad up front and routing the pipes while making sure the wheel wont rub off the hoses when its locked all the way. (remember cable ties are your best friend) and make sure there are no kinks in the hoses when you are done.
Its not that difficult just time consuming.
