Well depending on what look you want to achieve. If you want the rims flush with the guards then 17x8 +35 front and 17x9 +35 rear. If you don't want them flush then another option is 17x7.5 +40 front and 17x8.5 +40 rear.

The Gordaen tire calc is a very useful guideline for figuring out what offsets will work and what won't: mr2.gordaen.com/wt_calc.php

hmm, well some people prefer the rims to look a bit tucked in. If your car is very low or you put tyres on the wheels that are too big you can scrape your guards up a bit. Another thing is that you've more chance of spitting rocks down the side of your car if you're not running mudflaps. In my view +35 looks ok.

Nothing worse on a nice car than cheap shit/ton weight wheels

Staggered te37s are the nicest wheels for an mr2 imo
So good i bough 6 of them and i dont have a car to put them on lol
