Pretty sure Japohara is the man to talk to?

I was at TopGear 2 years ago and they had a car wrapped in chrome look - don't do it! sounds great but the end result was not so hot.
What colour are you thinking?

I'm thinking Carbon Fibre black, and will order new decals for the car like the stripes etc in gold, Will then probably either spray the alloys gold or possible wrap them in gold if I can manage to wrap the car without too many problems, I should have the wrap and heat gun by the end of the week, but i think date of completion seeing as it me could be the vintage car show in july if at all

I will be getting mine wrapped in a few weeks time il let you know , Chrome wrap sounds good but its cheaper to get your car resprayed , a full wrap in chrome costs upwards of 3 grand due to the fact you have to make a cast of the car parts first before your can wrap them something about the chrome not stretching it has to fitted perfectly to the car panels cant be heated and stretched like all the other wraps ,

Im going to give it a go myself, So should only cost €270 in materials but I reckon it could cost alot more in patience and time to get it right, both of which im very short of

Thanks for the link.
I'm sitting on the fence so to speak. I don't know if I would have the patience to do a whole car.

For aestethics to be honest, I dont really need a respray but i fancy a change so i figure if i can get the wrapping right then i could wrap my car over 6 times spanning 20 years in any color I like for the same price as one respray. Im going for the carbon fibre look 1st because the cost of actually repacing every body part would be astonomical and most likely impossible. If I can do a decent enough job i'll probably go for an 80's retro colour in a year or two. I fully understand your your comment of if its not real then why do it, but I'd say 0% of car people will actually think its carbon fibre and 100% will take it for what it is which is a carbon fibre vinyl wrapped car which can be reverted back to original when i get sick of it. its kind of like a van gogh painting on joe soaps wall, its not an originally but he likes the art and nobody will ever think its actually an original etc

When you said c/f, i had assumed black c/f. But the white and silver c/f are very interesting.
And then, as you say, there are the plain colours. €270 sounds a lot nicer than €2-3,000.
watching with interest ...

Ive been thinking about mat black for the V6. Black on black. Is there much involved in changing the log book with each colour?

From what I gather you dont have to change the color on the logbook if you vinyl it, I'll look into it a bit more

I dont really get this either but if you want to do it then go for it. AFter all, it will keep you off the streets which is definitely a good thing D
I would definitely suggest speaking to Japohara. He had some issues/difficulties with his (mainly the tight curvy bits from memory) which you will probably experience as well, irrespective of the colour you chose and the fact that (I presume) you are wrapping the MK1.
It's worth bearing in mind that another option for changing the colour of your motor would be to buy a sprayer. You can get hold of some epoxy paint and all you would need is masking ability and a clean garage. Depending on the spec you buy, it could be resprayed within 2 wraps and could give you a nifty side line
EDIT: meant to post this pic I have of Japo's car

I know them ... I personally wouldn't use them as they are using cheap vinyls .. I have seen cars they did and thy were not bad but not brilliant. .. they are using monomeric vinyl which is looking pigment quickly ..2 year life span ... but cheap material

Chrome wrap 7 Years, 11 Months ago
|

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG Chrome wrap is a lot harder to use than normal wrap. When it cools down it shrinks back to its normal size and peels itself off your car, so there is not much point trying to bend it around uneven corners. When you stretch it, it changes colour too.
