Alloy Refurb 11 Years, 2 Months ago
Hey guys, long time no see! Well, the wedding has happened, the honeymoon is over and it's back to reality!

I was thinking I'd like to get my alloys refurbed and maybe even get them painted to match the body colour (maybe), does anyone have any good experiences or recommend any decent places for this? I don't mind if I have to pay a little extra if it's for quality work, any thoughts?

cheers

Cozzy90 recommended to me sanding down the original 15 inch alloys on my MR2 with wet and dry paper and buffing them up with autosol.

I have to say the results were really impressive and cost me a grand total of about 50 euro (along with a lot of elbow grease). A refurb would have cost me many times that.

That doens't sound like a bad idea, the only thing is saadly the previous owner kerbed up the wheels pretty good and I want to get that sorted and sa I said was also considering getting them painted the same colour as the body!

Maybe give this stuff a try

www.fastcar.co.uk/2012/07/11/foliatec-spray-film-review/

I bought some myself but havent got round to using it

I think someone on here used similar stuff called plastidip with good results-think it was Dshamrock.

I dealt with them first hand as well:

Basically it costs about €320 for 4 wheels (up to 17")...that includes tyres off, stripped, 3 stage powder coat, tyres on and balancing..

They come highly recommended and are passionate about what they do

Re: Alloy Refurb 11 Years, 2 Months ago
yeah, was €324 and worth every cent!

As far as I know they put the alloys in an acid bath to take of the old laquer and pain, sand off the damage and fill in any chips, paint it, back on the paint, and laquer it and bake on the laquer ad rebalance the wheels

The guys there are great, very friendly and helpful and as you can see did a great job at a great price

For anyone in the North i can recommend Marron Alloy, got my 17" rims stripped, chips filled in and powder coated for 250 quid.
