We guys Silverlux's post has spurred me on to perhaps arrange four runs over the four seasons in the four provinces.
What do you all think, I am proposing that somebody from each province arranges a run (can be part of another organised one if needs be).
They would need to:
1. Create and propose a route.
2. Recce it, to make sure it is up to scratch for a spin prior to the main event.
3. Suggest accommodation if needed for long distance travelers.
4. Fix a date as early as possible to make sure we have enough time to commit.
5. Create and manage a thread for the people to arrange thing thru.
6. Arrange a stopping point for a bite to eat, enough to give people a break from driving.
7. Take all the credit when the run is complete and accept all the Kc's that will come your way.
So to facilitate this as best we can, have we got 4 volunteers for:
A. Ulster
B. Leinster
C. Connacht (Joe O'Rielly charity run)
D. Munster
If you are interested in taking this on or working with somebody else in your area to arrange it please put your name down against the province. Dates will be first come first served I suppose unless you all can co-ordinate it yourselves.
I like arranging these but life gets in the way to much these days for me to commit the time involved (although it is not a huge amount of effort.) and help from anybody willing would be great.
This is just an idea thats been floating in my head the last while and I haven't got pen to paper, looking forward to any and all contributions.
I think we have had a great couple of years and it would be a handy way of getting people to focus on a small amount of runs over the full year, hopefully getting a good commitment for the site populace.

Thanks Silverlux (Kc'd), you can pick a date that suits you, but the Antrim coast run is a long standing tradition and you may need to move it for that, sorry. Order of the runs is only dependant on dates selected. "so first up best dressed".
So anymore volunteers, come on guys, would you prefer to lead or be led B)

The Coast Road run tends to be at the start of June, although it was pushed back a couple of weeks this year due to a conflict with something ... cant remember what.
Probably safe to assume it would be held in June, unless the organisers wanted to change it - no reason why not other than tradition.

Then so far with rough plan it looks like:
A. Leinster???
B. Ulster (Antrim Coast Run) June???
C. Connacht (Joe O'Rielly charity run) August???
D. Munster-Silverlux October???

How about:
A. Leinster - December
B. Ulster (Antrim Coast Run) - June
C. Connacht (Joe O'Rielly charity run) - Easter
D. Munster-Silverlux October???
You never know what the winter weather will do so the winter meet could be organised as a Christmas dinner or something with a run included if the weather is suitable, just a thought.

May would be a good time for the Connaught run.
May would be a great month for a run as the weather also is pretty good around then and a lot of folk have tax on their cars so would tend to encourage people out.
I am looking into route options at the moment. I am conscious about people travelling long distances just to get to Galway so wouldn't want to drag you all out to the wilds of the west unless ye want it. There are some great roads out near Clifden,Westport, etc. but I have a lot to choose from overall.
All feedback appreciated for suggestion for a route, places to stop and eat, etc.
On the tax/weather thing maybe the event can be Four runs in Four Provinces. Having it over four seasons would be the icing.....

Ok am going to throw my name into the hat to help get this sorted out. If you have any wants, needs or suggestions please forward and I will see what we can do. Am thinking that a May weekend in might be the date for the Connaught "Joe O'Reilly" Run. Have to check when May Bank Holiday, Easter and Mothers day is, don't want anyone missing out.!
