Hi folks, I'm putting this thread up to let you know there is an urgent problem with MR2.ie

I am in process of sending out an email to everyone who was active on the site in 2015/2016 asking for help by way of a voluntary contribution. I appreciate that this is unexpected and out of the blue, but I hope that the community can come together to keep this fantastic resource going. You should see an email in your inbox about this in the next couple of hours - if you have not received the email by 6pm tonight leave a reply here or send me a PM and I will get one over to you.

Note: The 'January' issue does not involve anyone getting access to MR2.ie usernames or passwords.

The offer still stands, if you just want to negate the costs move to the site, I can host it for you... But as you were saying its probably messy now....

Just done it there. Let's hope we can all pull together to keep this going. I know I don't use it much, only to fault find in the search bar, but it has helped me out alot

This is the least we can do to help out.

Done & done - I don't think you should be stung with this however surely the web hosting company has a duty of care here? I know in cpanel WHM for example you can setup notifications for exceeded bandwidth. I'd be following with the 'duty of care' angle , it's a pretty lousy stunt to pull from them after 8 years of custom. 130 gigs is hardly earth shattering

At the end of the day I guarantee the webhosting company are not one bit out of pocket on this as other clients wouldn't be anywhere near there limit. I'd be leaving them at the first available chance tbh

e.g I have hosting for the folks b & b - its €40 a year hosting and has 100gb bandwidth - it rarely passes 200megs -

Unfortunately i can't afford it right now, as I'm scraping the barrel going to nyc in 2 weeks, but when i'm back and on my feet i can chip something into the kitty if it helps by then?

Although I no longer own an MR2 I have to say that we all need to support this call for help with the running costs for MR2.ie. I have found it to be an invaluable forum for help and I have met many a friend from it. Anyone who feels that they get anything from the site should help in the sites hour of need. So come on and lets get it sorted.

I am sure there will be a plan to sort out this issue going forward. I for one would be in favour of a Friends/Supporters page or sponsorship from a company possibly owned by an MR2 owner.

It is very much appreciated and we were on the edge of not being here anymore, so fair dues.

I for one have not been on the site regularly over the last year due to extraneous work commitments, but the site is such a valuable resource we really would be lost without it.

For 2016 I promise to get my car back on the road and get out for some meets / events, cheers again guys.

Thanks guys, we got a lot of support through which allowed me to rectify the problem at hand. I'm drafting an email now that will explain in more detail and will be sent to people who made contributions. But for now - we're all good!

On a special note, thank you for all of the kind words of encouragement and appreciation that came through - this MR2 community really attracts good folk who stick together, we should be proud of that.
