Exhaust Question 10 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 3
Hi all

I recently picked up the below second hand mongoose exhaust to replace the custom exhaust that was fitted to my 2 when i bought it. The custom exhaust is actually pretty nice and nothing like i have seen on another MR2 but im sick of setting car alarms off in my underground carpark! ill throw it up for sale once i get it off. Anyway my question is: will i have to buy a gasket and/or new bolts to fit my new exhaust? the current exhaust has only been on the car around 2 years so am i safe to assume that the current bolts\gasket can be reused? I have my NCT on 01/12/2012 so i need this sorted ASAP! Cheers for any advice!

its always safer to have a few gaskets on hand in case , saying that they could probably be alright at very least have some good sealant paste ready.

So i ordered a gasket from GTSChris.com but my mate who is fitting the exhaust can only do it today so i knew it wouldnt arrive in time. Yesterday i went to three motor factors and 3 exhaust centres around south dublin trying to pick up the gasket but no one could help (most seemed like they didnt want to help!). Eventually i was told to pop out to Borsal Ireland LTD on the Nass road. Just back from Borsal now and i have to say they were very helpful! i had a cardboard imprint of the end of the downpipe with me and they just matched it up with that no problem. He even came out with 3 options for me to choose from! On top of that it only cost me 3 euro!! considering i was after paying 10 GBP for the gasket from GTSchris i was very impressed! also cheaper than anything i could find on Ebay! If anyone else needs any exhaust gaskets i would defo give Borsal a try first! The part number for a 3 bolt 3 inch gasket for the downpipe/b pipe is 256-571.
