NCT cancer bar needed 8 Years ago Karma: 106
Just back from NCT, Seems every year I have to visit the NCT centre twice

This year its one of the cancer bars underneath - should have pulled them out a long time ago

There was a lad selling stainless ones but cant seem to find any details for him - anyone got any ones that are in semi decent nick lying around?

On a positive note it passed the rest of the test with flying colours

Just to update on this - cheers to got92tubby for throwing a bar my way - was in grand condition.

I cleaned off the surface rust and added to coats of hammerite followed by a coat of dynax UC wax

That should keep the rust fairies at bay - the bar that came out was rotten, I check the other side and its in good nick so plan will be to remove it and rust proff it also

re - NCT on the 5th so should be good for another 12 months

Failed the NCT on the nearside "cancer bar" as its affectionally known as in the MR2 world

Its basically a bar the stiffens the chassis and corrodes to bits on most MR2s I'm actually surprised mines lasted 15 years

Need to repeat the below process on the passenger side as thats fine when the weather gets better!

Reason it failed NCT is I was lazy and didn't get one of the undercovers back on yet as I was planning on a slight handbrake adjustment

€28 retest lighter

Before (The bar below the rusted one is the replacement)

Bar I got from got92tubby (Cheers :) ) had a small bit of surface rust but was good otherwise

Bit of Deoxgel but a wire brush probably would have done the same (had it anyway)

2 Coats of Hammerite Black

Old vs New(ish) - the bar is coated in Dynax UC hence the waxy like appearance
