Hi everyone

My MR2 Roadster is completely standard currently.

I am looking to get a bit more performance from it without investing huge amounts of money into yet.

What are your recommendations for the first things I should do?

Hi,

I'd start by replacing the airbox/airfilter with some aftermarket cone/mushroom filter.
That will give you better throttle response.

Do you have any links for examples of cone filters that would fit the MR2?

Is this similar to an induction kit?

Hi,

It is indeed the induction kit.
Since I have an MK2, I'm not too sure what size (diameter) would you need, but I found the below video which would give you an idea where to start/what to measure.

all you will get with a cone filter is more noise and a bigger fuel bill.
