TOPIC: Fogging oil

I must admit that until recently, I had never heard of fogging oil. It was brought to my attention by my brother.

So what is it used for ? Well apparently it is quite well known in the marine community. It is used on boat engines that are going to be out of use for some time. There are quite a few different brands to choose from.

It gets sprayed in to an idling engine and then it gets sprayed again with the engine off. The fogging oil coats the internals of the engine and prevents moisture from causing corrosion.

Up until now I have been spraying small amounts of engine oil in the bores of my my MR2's 3sgte engine, but I always thought that it wasn't coating everything as well as I would like. I have ordered some fogging oil last week and am waiting for it to be delivered.

I thought I would put this information out for those who are in the middle of an engine build or are parking up their MR2 for the winter.

I ordered it off ebay. www.ebay.ie/itm/182244116844?_trksid=p20...e=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

The only annoying thing is the cost for postage to Ireland which seemed high everywhere I looked on the internet.
