Hi names Neil from Omagh co Tyrone, been working at cars off and on 20 odd years but this week is the first time I've even sat in a 2 much besides driven one, I bought an 89 mk1 red t bar solid wee car but needs tided although I will be going the whole hog with it over the next while, arches bodykit engine LSD etc, so will be needing a lot of help from u guys used to own a 84 twin can a lot of years ago and it was very keen about the fastest one around this area so when I got into the mk1 wasn't very impressed with it thru the gears, my first question is what can be done with the 4a-ge engine to make it quicker till I decide what engine I want to put in it ( and gather the money for) supercharger, turbo? Don't know, any help would be great, seems like a great forum, cheers for now, Neil

Welcome along man ... I am afraid I cant really answer your question on the easy mods ... I am afraid to say you would probably be as well off going the full hog and getting a supercharged engine or a Turbo one ...

Basic mods however may help ... Free flow exhaust system and remove the cat if there is one ... A good Performance Air Filter ...

You could go down the road of High Lift cams and a set of Throttle bodies ... Polish and port the head ... things like that but you are going down the road of big money when you start that stuff ...

My advise depending of coarse on what you are looking to achieve is you cant beat a good set of rubber, brakes and suspension setup ... After all that is what keeps you in contact with the tarmac ..

Best guy to talk to here would be MJ Mitch or Antho 300zx they seem to be very good with mr2s and Toyota stuff ...

There is someone on donedeal breaking an ae86 and have a turbo kit for sale for the 4age, I have no connection to this though so can't vouch for condition or seller etc.

Welcome to the site.

With your car being 89, it is the latest revision on power from toyota. Induction kit and exhaust would be the easiest upgrades. There is no cat in the 89 mk1.

It would be mental to do a 3sgte turbo conversion, V6 conversion is another option.

Best of luck with the car.

Post a thread with loads of pics.
