Just reading the thread about Joe (RIP) the mr2 specialist from Galway. Sounds like the man was a legend in the MR2 community. Got me thinking is there an MR2 specialist out there now ??

Hey dex...
To be honest I dont know if anyone will ever fill his shoes. Sure there are prob people how map and tune Mrs but when it came down to the nity grity stuff even mechanics who are years plying their trade used to ring him for info.
Since if started at these cars Ive had fone calls heard stories and even met and made friends with people who Joe had helped throughout the years.. People who he spent hours on the fone to help them fix or diagnose a problem and all for free...
Other garages or mechanics wouldnt offer this for free or give a shit.
I even remember him working on an mr for some lad up north who had his car in numerous Toyota specialists who spent months and who couldnt diagnose the problem but Joe fixed it first time
His love for these machines were evident in the 3 mr2s he left behind him.
He was a perfectionist who could do anything, rebuilds resprays anything Mr related.
Since his passing I have tried to keep his memory alive by continuing on his work and helpfullness.
Ive fallen in love with these cars as he did many years ago. He could never be replaced in my eyes.
Even if I spend years working on them I probably wouldnt know what he knew.
This is not a go at you or anyone. I jus feel I had to explain to you the efforts he went through to make him so successful and respected in this community..
As the saying goes you can never beat the original..

Hi Damien,
Never made the connection even after speaking to you on the phone, the couple of times for the parts. That's as nice a piece as I've seen written in someone's memory. Definitely didn't mean to take anything away from this icon.

RIP Joe
