It's a very suspicious request to be honest waffle. Nobody is going to give you their chassis number. The reason for this should be interesting

Good point Mr.2.

He should really have explained that though. Not sure if many would be happy to post their Chassis Number on a thread. I know I wouldn't

If you need a part number give me a shout with what part you are looking for and the year and description of the car GT / GTS etc for the particular part.

The reasoning could be genuine, but without any explanation, unfortunately, the first thing that springs to mind is....dodgy dealings. Sorry waffle, but if we knew you it might be different. Seeing as though you are new, a request like that should really be followed by an explanation.

info on chasis numbers are available in various locations on the net, including this site

www.mr2.ie/index.php/mr2-forum/28-how-tw...-the-rev-of-your-mk2

@all the rest: you are a suspicious lot not sure what you could maliciously do with someone else's chasis number anyway ... but I'm sure someone will educate me

The chassis number should be SW20 followed by 7 numbers. If you have a look at the link in my previous post, pick any number in the correct Rev. range and add SW20 to the front you should be good.

e.g. SW200000003 would be 3rd built rev 1

Your number looks a little strange, you should double check it.

Chassis numbers were consistent through turbo/NA/Euro/Jap cars. They were slightly different in the USA 'cause our SW20 was known as SW21 (I think).

Someone gave you a -1 karma click, a little unfair and hasty in my view. I will click you back up to 0 and hopefully some other will follow suit if they feel that they may have jumped the gun

oh right... i checked again.. its sw20 0106011 so that makes it a rev 3 right?
strange that the guy in kearys couldnt get me what i wanted. aren't the rev 3's supposed to get that chunkier front splitter stock? the guy i got got car from told me that he orginally had the splitter i wanted on the car but he ripped it off going over something so he got a smaller one to put on

I clicked it back to zero for you seeing how your slow spanky best place to find the chasis number in the front where the spare wheel is, it should be fairly large and etched into the car

The rev3+ splitter sticks out a little more than rev1 but I think its the same shape as the rev2. The difference with teh rev2 is that it wasn't body coloured.

Your no. would suggest that your car is late rev3 probably built late 95 or early 96. A splitter off any rev3+ (94 import or 95 UK/EU or older) will give you the shape I think you are looking for. There are other aftermarket alternatives which give a more pronounced lip.

I found the following numbers on the front splitter I have 76081-17021 and 76081-17020, looked for them on one of the parts websites and cannot find anything yet.

The one I have is not for sale sorry.

Lads, the internet and the modern world we live in may have caused some people to be overly suspicious, but I think that sort of vigilance is as necessary as is a little but of fear keeping you from doing crazy things that will kill you.

Has noboody here ever heard of chassis number shaving?

It's common for stolen cars to have their chassis numbers stripped and replaced with another to change the ID of the car. This is as old as clocking!! It can then be sold on posing as another car, a clone etc. The ID's are sometimes taken from cars that have been written off. Are you all living in a nice fluffy cloud?

I know of one guy being caught with 5!!!! (YES FIVE!!) clones of his car, ie, 6 perfectly identical cars in EVERY way on the road as taxi's all running together under the one license, tax, insurance, EVERYTHING! He was an illegal immigrant who also managed to pass his taxi driver and PSV tests, one month before he ever set foot in Ireland. This test is to prove your street knowledge. So he didn't even sit his own test!!! Then comes here and creates all of these dodgy clones and brings you around in circles. People, believe me, this is common, hello? I would never post my chassis number on the web. Madness. That's good enough reason for suspicion AFAIAC!

Sorry waffle, it seems your reasons are in fact genuine, but it was a very odd thing to ask for and a lot of people where unsure of your motives/reasoning. There is a ton of dodgy people out there and crap going on and you just came on here and in your first couple of posts you ask for a chassis number, so please understand our position.

I hope you get sorted with your spoiler and don't post that kind of info on your car on web dude! Edit your post and remove your chassis number ASAP.
