Howdy all, thought I should make my presence here known, say hi and see what 'The Next Generation' are doing with their MR2's.
I'm Ray and I set up and ran the previous incarnation of the MR2 Owners Club Ireland. We started with two cars on our first run and grew to just over 130 cars before I decided to 'bow out' and let someone with a fresh perspective take over, the deciding factor in this for me was a house purchase.
On our first anniversary we ran 65 cars in convoy to Roundwood and Glendalough and had an awesome day, both Clubs, MR2OC Ire and MR2DC NI contributed to the compliment of fine cars on the day and whatta sight!!!
Its heart warming to see the burning interest in the 2 is still very much there today, my indulgence these days takes the shape of a Lexus Soarer TT and I love it as much as I did any of the three MR2's I owned over the years, so much so in fact that I have recently established the Soarer Owners Club Ireland, the numbers will probably never quite be what they were with the MR2's but thats ok, we are already helping with sourcing parts and info on the car for members around the Country.
Please watch the site for a post from MR2 Gal re a meet next month in Drogheda, the Soarers will be there and it'd be great to see the MR2 gang and meet you all in person, I'll also dig out the photo album which documents some of the shennanigans we got up to while you lot were probably making your confo's or sitting your Junior Certs

Good to see you back in the Toyotas. You'd never know - if you see a bunch of 2s again, it might convince you to come back !

Spidey I do recall meeting you with Andy out in Strawberry Beds, way to go with the club here mate, is Andy still involved? I also remember the first time we met in Blanch SC and some idiot took exception to us holding up traffic, he followed me up the back and the two of us ended up toe to toe over it lol.
I do have a ton of pics guys but they're stored in the brothers garage in Cavan, I'll be down there next weekend so I'll dig em out and dust em off
I have big plans for the Soarer over time but I wouldn't rule out returning to the 2 in time, I'm also considering making a short video for YouTube with the solution I came up with for leaking T-Bar roofs that Claire has probably shared with you, I think its something that MR2 enthusiasts all over can benefit from so I guess I've still got the 2 in my blood

Welcome to the club Ray, love the soarer, looks very nice. Congrats on the convoy of 65 mr2's, that's quite an achievement. I've had my mr2 just over 2 yrs and the largest meet i've been to was about 23 cars and even that was a sight to behold, i can only dream of what 65 mr2's together is like! I'm looking forward to that meet up in drogheda

hi mnixon, I'm looking forward to meeting the guys myself, should be a great few days, the first and second weekends don't seem to suit a lot of people so it has been suggested we push it back to the 28th August where numbers might be better, Claire is gonna erase the original post and reword.
23cars is still a fabulous sight, I think the most awesome spectacle was in 2000 tho, I travelled to Crowethorne in Berkshire for 'MR2000' where MR2DC wanted to get 2000 MR2's together for one event, the final figure on the day was 1033 cars alocated by colour in different sections of the base we were at which was basically a huge concreted square in the middle of a forest I got lots of photos to share once I dig out the album this Sunday, I'm already aware that you're the photographer of the gang Mark so we may have a lot to talk about, it was this photo album (and a sprint up Gorey Main Street after an MR2 while on a run) that landed me the position of Senior photographer with Modified Motors Magazine when they first launched, but thats a story for another day

Yep - was it the Strawberry Hall pub ? yeah, you had run the club and Andy had met me and wanted to start it up again. So, you were giving us all the info etc.

Since then, it ran for about a year and a half and then the club died off and Andy went back to the UK. I've still had MR2s since.

Then just last August, Quandry got in contact with me via MR2oc.com and we decided to get it going again !
