How are you all doing folks,my name's Ger and I've a Rev 3 G-Limited.
I got a text off somebody a couple of weeks ago about seeing me on the N7 and an invite to the classic car show.
Apologies for not replying, but I was away on holidays at the time, cheers for the invite though.
Checked the site out anyway and it definitely wasn't my car on the N7 as I noticed it in the spotted section.Although it could certainly do with a wash ,it's not missing the filler door.
Anyway it seems you lads reckon it could be an anniversary edition which has kind of got me reconsidering the decision to get rid of it.I never knew there was a JDM version, only a UK one.I thought my car just had a couple of extras on it.
Any extra info anyone has about this would be much appreciated.
Just like to add as well, from looking through a few threads, this appears to be a pretty good natured forum.
Been on a few over the years as I'm sure everyone has and things that would put me off are the amount of know-it-alls and general bitchiness on a lot of them, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
That's enough rambling on anyway.
It's nice to meet you all.
Ger

Hows things Ger? Welcome aboard.
First thing, you got this forum right, its full of sound people. Between us all, we collectively know "almost" everything but there are no diva's, just lots of good craic and harmless fun. Its nowhere near as strict and militant as some of the forums out there on the web.
So, I think I remember looking at the ad for your car and pointing out that it was the 10th anny. Yeah, that makes it pretty special alright. Two of moderators on this forum have 10th annys, also in silver (yours is silver right?) It has a special edition Momo steering wheel and gearknob and probably some other extras im not sure about (mnixon and & slipsliderg could tell you more)
So, from memory, where you based in Meath somewhere?

Hi Ger, that was me that text you, Welcome to the site, I was following a similar looking car on my way home from work that day and thought i'd do a quick search on donedeal, I was close but no cigar great to have you on board and feel free to ask any questions no matter how small or big, theres usually someone on here that would be able to help and most definately someone that will try and help.
heres a link of the show,

Cheers for the welcome Swagger.
Yeah it's bright silver, part of the reason i bought it was it looked a litlle different.most of them seemed to be black, red or white when i was looking.
Has a Momo wheel and gearknob, doesn't seem too much else different about it apart from the colour, the wheels aren't standard, but as far as I can see they're genuine Tom's,should there be something stamped on them maybe?
You're right enough I'm in Johnstown, just outside Navan.
Didn't realise there was such a big following in Ireland, you don't actually seem to see that many MR2s on the roads.

Yeah I just remembered Meath from the ad on Donedeal. Slipsliderg, one of the mods on here who owns a 95 silver 10th anniversary like yours musnt be too far from you so, he is roughly out that direction.
As dshamrock says, ask any questions you have, dont worry, no mockers here. We are all learning all the time, from each other and the web and so on and most importantly, asking questions. The MR2's are quite different from other cars, so some of the little problems you can get can be quite puzzling. Some people even have difficulties changing bulbs! You cant get at them from behind like in other cars, you have to remove the entire light units. That's just one simple example to show you how simple some of the questions can be.
Try sticking up some photos, you may have to resize, or whats easier, if you have a photobucket account, is pop your pics to your photobucket account and then just copy the links in.
And as Quandry said, try come to a meet or two, being part of a bigger community makes owning the car MUCH more enjoyable, when you see all you can do with it. I doubt you will want to sell it then! We sometimes meet the odd Thursday night in Blanchardstown for an hour or two. Its normally at the McDonalds near the shopping centre at 8PM. Hope to see you there sometime!
EDIT: I say Ray has already replied while I was writing the above. So you can see, there are other nice things, like the Bilsein shocks, black chrome alloys, the keyring and the polished steel MR2 door cills! Nice...

that's the uk cars, there's a number on the bootlid and on the steering wheel i think, wooden steering wheels no less
Ray is the expert on the jdm anniversary cars, he mentioned before that he believes there was 1,000 of them made

250 English ones sold and all numbered, AFAIK 1000 of the JDM versions were sold. Again I haven't looked into it enough to back that statement up.

Hi Quandry, don't have any pics at the mo but I found an article on www.mr2oc.co.uk entitled identifying jdm wheels. They're the fourth one down,a 16" five spoke with kind of a twist in the spokes,I've not seen a set like them before.
slipsiderg, fair play for those pics.definitely no stickers on the boot or body,my shocks are manky can't see anything on them though to be honest they're on the way out and I don't have the original wheels,no key ring either.
I think it's that exact steering wheel and gearknob,it has the polished mr2 sill plates and a dark coloured toyota and MR2 badge.also folding mirrors.maybe we could find something out from the chassis number?
I was the first owner in Ireland so I think that's exactly how the car was when it got here.
I'll definitely be along to some meets, that one in Blanchardstown would be spot on,I'm from there originally,so would be an excuse to drop in to the folks after work anyway!
Already had an experience with the headlight bulbs,my missus thought she was helping by turning the lights off while i had my hand inside the headlight, all fun and games
Now for my first silly question, how do you resize pics?

the pics will only show up as 600px wide in the forum so no real need to resize them, just lash them up best way to do it is to upload to photobucket.com and grab the image link from there and put it here with the image code i.e. [img ] link [ /img] (no spaces)

Ah Frank!
Well, sure, its an Irish forum, but the MR2 community is much bigger than Ireland. We have members on here from the UK, Asia, Canada and of course Frank and a couple of his buddies from Texas! It makes owning an MR2 even more interesting as we share info, parts, pics etc and get to see how other countries do things with their 2's.
Its all good!

Oh nice pic BTW Ger, car looks clean, wheels are nice and I like the back drop, very James Bond villain feel to it!
Mountainous back drops are pretty cool. Myself, slipsliderg and dshamrock went for a cruise through the Wicklow Mountains for one of the Thursday night meets two weeks ago.

You have just earned an extra KC for asking , KC's are Karma clicks, basically based on your input.Or in Spanky's case lack of input, foresight, thought or general consideration for others. You will be graced with KC's as a kind of recognition of the input to the site.

See on the top right of your message, or anyones message, just to the left of their profile picture (avatar). It shows your karma, its a forum thing. Every time you post info, a good pic or help someone or do anything that anyone else things deserves a karma click (KC, KC+1 etc) they can give you one. So your Karma can go up by one from each person for posting some really helpful link or something.
It can be taken away too, but that never happens. It doesnt do anything, but for some reason, everyone (me included) loves to get karma, its like PS3 trophies, of no use in real life, but the more you have the better you seem to feel!
Here is one for you for joining up and having a chat! Notice, you have 3 now.

Welcome to MR2.ie
As Quandry said - owning the car is one thing but going along to meets makes it much better. You see other peoples mods (check out Swaggers winky mod ) and generally have a bit of craic.
We're not know-it-alls - but what we do know, we'll gladly share and try help out each other etc.
You will notice a friendly rivalry between certain members - then we have some Karma Queens ... I mean Drama Queens But, everything is in good spirit
