Hi there,

I was up at the ECC rolling road day yesterday and met a guy called Spanky, who peppered me with cards

I have a couple of cars at the moment. I've a wee Toyota Starlet GT and a MK2 Rev1 MR2 T-Bar Turbo.

Put them both on the Dyno yesterday at ECC, I've only got an electronic copy of the Staret dyno.

The MR2 made 255hp/260flbs
The Starlet made 439hp/375flbs, I'll put up the chart for this. The lower lines and figures are the car without Nitrous assistance

She's got a 5E bottom end out of a Cynos bringing her up to a wopping 1500cc and original 4E head bolted on, with cams, springs and some porting and valve cuts.

I'll check out the meets section on here and get the details, wouldn't mind going for the spin though.

Welcome to MR2.ie, Spuddy

Can I ask what mods you've already done to your 2 ?

I noticed Spankys torque was about 195 with about 240fwhp. And you've slightly more power at 255fwhp but a lot more torque.

Spuddy car was peaking 1.2 bar which was giving him the higher torque, Spankys car was standard as far as i know

exactly right, John. Spuddy has ~50% more boost than me which prob accounts for the increased torque.

I'm not sure if the rev1/2 engines produced more torque (relative to hp) as standard than the rev3 but that might also contribute towards the difference.

Shouldn't that have also made a difference in the HP too? Both cars are pretty stock so should be very similar at factory boost, therefore, torque and HP. But if you turn up the boost, should then both the torque AND the HP show a difference over the factory 0.8 boost? Just curious....

Yes it should make a difference in HP aswell and it did. By the time the engine was @ 7000rpm the boost had dropped back to just below 1 bar, thats why there was only a small difference in the BHP at the top end.

Ah ok....needs mapping so, to hold the boost right through the rev range.

It needs a boost controller to try and hold the boost, im not too sure of what all is done to the car but i didnt see any controller in it.

Sorry for my slow reply!

There's a few differences on the cars, the mods on her at the moment are the following.

Apexi Airfilter
Blitz Nurpsec Exhaust
3" downpipe
XS power intercooler
Stage 2 Hybrid CT26
The boost was raised with a bleed valve just, peaking 1.2bar and a fairly rapid drop off to around 0.9-1.0bar

The car was massivly massivly over fueling! I've a standalone Haltech and coilpacks sitting to go onto her. Busy with the Starlet though at the moment.

It's a rev1/2 engine so the stock HP is lower than mine by 20-25hp. Not sure whether there is any difference in the stock torque or not
