G'day from Australia 2 Years, 3 Months ago

Evening all. Im originally from Galway but have been living in Austrlaia for almost 5 years now and loving every minute of it. The roads are awesome here, very quite, well surfaced and nearly always dry. I love to head off early on a Sunday morning for a good rip in the cooler morning air.
Ive had my MR2 almost 2 years now, it’s a 1992 GTS hardtop. All turbos had to be imported here too. You don’t see many MR2s around here which is just the way I like it. The weapon of choice is normally aussie V8 muscle. Car insurance and road tax is so much cheaper here, combined mine costs around 500 euro.
I have just about finished a new engine build, just need to hook up the breather hoses and boost controller and she will be off to be tuned for a run in on Wednesday, cant wait!! Aiming to make around 350whp to begin with.
Anyways, great forum, makes me proud to be Irish seeing a forum of this quality.
Hope you like the pics.

Its funny - the guy who set all this up, Quandry is originally from Aus but living here now.
Nice looking 2 - post up more details on whats gone into your build - internals, ecu, turbo etc
And welcome to mr2.ie If you're ever back on holidays, make sure to check the events section as we plan to do some sort of a meet every month

Thanks for the welcomes. Some photos below.
Its a 2.2l 3sgte, GT3071r turbo, 268 cams and 800cc injectors. I have chosen a Haltech E8 ECU as they are made in Australia and the support is good.

i havent had the motor dynod or down the quarter yet. the build is finished as of today so the car we be heading to the tuner tomorrow for a run in tune. then i will have to do around 1,000 to run it on. i will also need to complete the W2A intercooling system which is proving to be a bitch of a job but hopefully worth it

Hi Quandry. Sorry for delayed reply, I made a move to Hobart and now catching up on everything. Had some major hiccups with build....oil starvation issue meaning the exhaust cam snapped. Had the whole motor taken apart again to make sure there was no further internal damage. Luckily there has been no further issue and the car is being run in. I was pretty pissed off about the whole thing but things are looking up now although I am having problems with the Haltech and cant get the car going. I'll have to get somebody to look at the wiring. I'll keep you posted. I heard it was freezing over there, been looking at photos and stuff, really hard to believe. Not MR2 weather thats for sure! Its pretty hot here as you would imagine.

Hey mate, damn sorry to hear about your build Touch wood mine is going great. I am about 700kay's in to my run in but at the moment the car is parked down the side of the house covered in snow... I saw -10 on the thermometer yesterday, speaking to my sister in Sydney today she said it was 37! so I tell you what we'll trade you 15 or so degrees to even it out
Hope your car get's back on track soon, what's Hobart like for MR2's?
I was down at Targa Tasmania about 17 years ago, it was great!
