Welcome to the club Steve. Must try and sort out a subscription one of these days. Not having a credit or debit card makes it difficult though!

Hey huys, thanks for the welcome
Yes, current subscription starts from the current issue (17) with Nathans Century car and the Red widebody TRD2000 on the cover, but just to make sure, if you order, just make a note in the Paypal order window, that you want to start from issue 17.

Will there be a notice in a future issue that the "TRD No1" plastered all over this issue was actually a FAKE?
How far back can i start the 10 issue subscription? just the previous issue, number 17?

lol, if you've some solid evidence of the last issues cover car being a fake, I'd be happy to pass it on to the former owner. From the info we received from Technocraft themselves when researching a previously featured TRD widebody (the blue one owned by a friend of mine), TRD1 seemed to be the real deal, of course if not I'll stand corrected
There are back issues of MR2 Only Magazine available, at the link below, the ones we no longer have available are marked SOLD OUT

Actually , what evidence do YOU and the former owner have that is is real in order to claim it as such in this magazine? Surely that means that you are casting doubt over TRD's own brochure showing TRD001 being white? Or being genuine for that matter? Maybe it was TRD who built the fake white No1, purely for the TRD2000GT brochure?
I know who i believe... and i also know those who have been left red faced over it all.
Perhaps if people had taken notice of the way this car was imported, and how the price drastically changed before the "former owner" bought it, it might have been a clue to the authenticity of it. Much like i said, oh about a year ago....
Its already been documented at length regarding TRD No.1 on the various forums, i don't believe for a minute that the organisers of MR2 Only don't know already..

true enough, I've one of the original TRD brochures, and yes you can just about make out the number is 0001, had this conversation with someone recently, but again with much of the TRD widebody info available many myths and stories seem to surround them, one of which was that the brochure model had a number plaque for pictorial purposes only, again we've not yet come across a real white TRD, although we did spot two TRD widebodies at a TMCJ meet in Japan a couple of years ago, one white, one black, would be interested to know their numbers, and whether authentic. Also our research confirmed there was ONE normally aspirated 2.2 stroker, with TOMS engine parts. I guess until either a white TRD with a 0001 plaque turns up, or another authentic TRD widebody with a 2.2 stroker, it seems to be real.
If TRD1 is fake, then its a good one, as I've seen the car at meets this year before and after the feature, and the body surpasses any of the replica kits we've seen. As MR2 Only Mag, we post on forums all over the world, so hopefully in the future we will manage to track down more of the 36 genuine TRD widebodies, the truth is out there, as they say

All the facts point to it being a fake, and i think you know is but don't want to admit to it
Anyhow, back to topic, i'll be ordering the 10 issue subscription, but i would like it if it could start with some back issues if possible?

I never got involved in the real or not real discussions on the forums, and I've no knowledge of the cars import, or indeed its purchase price etc, when we featured the car in issue 17 we had background from the then owner who I've personally know for a while in order to write the feature, along with confirming facts from a guy at TRD themselves in Japan, if I remember rightly the contact confirmed the VIN too, and we ran the story detailing the renovations the owner had made to the car under his ownership, love it or hate it! so unless new info is revealed to the contrary, personally I still beleive it to be real, and would be disappointed for it to be proved otherwise lol.
You're certainly entitled to your opinion, so we will agree to disagree lol
Anyway, back on subject, certainly I'm sure we can sort something out for you on some back issues, if you send a quick email to Pam who handles subscriptions, email: info@mr2only.com letting us know which issues you would be interested in, we can work out a deal on a bulk order, that also goes for anyone else reading who is interested

I think the facts speak for themselves, i do believe there is sufficient evidence to show that its a fake. And those who take a keen interest in the subject know this a long tine ago and have chuckled silently over the big deal thats been made over this car will all the "bling" claiming the "No1" tag. As said by TRD, the white car was used as a demo and company car, and had the 0001 number, therefore it was the first. These TRD plates are available to buy as blanks on ebay etc. so its n easy way to fire one on.
The major players in the MR2 world at the minute know the truth, which is good enough for me
I'll drop that lady an email and see if we can work out a deal on the mags

heres something for the major players in the MR2 world to mull over, a transcript of email conversations between ourselves and a contact we have at TRD with regard to the featured TRD1
Below are the details of TRD1 submitted
Neil wrote :
the details are :
TRD plate : SW200-00001 S9803
Chasis : SW20-0084047
I have attached some pictures aswell.
I recently managed to acquire a brochure as well of a white TRD that appears to have a plate also saying SW200-00001.
Do eiter of these match your records?
TRD wrote :
Yes, SW200-0001 S9803 is surely converted at our factory.
White 2000GT in brochure also has the plate of SW200-0001, but it was only
used for photo.

TRD wrote :

to a MR2 fan.
It was for sale few years ago, but I don't know where it is now.
________
Also to look at circumstantial evidence, in my questions for the article we did for Neils TRD (No15), i asked most interesting build

Hi Steve
Slightly Off topic but am I right in saying that all the SW20 Spiders were NA ? So, whatever SW20 turbos that are out there were converted after coming from Toyota ?

Hi Rob,
Yes to our knowledge all of the MR2 Spiders were all N/A, although there is one, owned by NVI, Tom Solan, incidentally for sale, which I managed to get a drive of a couple of years back, an awesome thing, Tom believes this car to have left the factory with the turbo engine fitted, and certainly looked a very tidy factory job to me, and felt very planted, more planted handling wise than the Rev3 turbo T/bar I had at that time, and it boasted quite a few TRD extras. Without solid facts I'd not stick my neck out personally and say it left the TRD factory as a turbo, as we all know how easy it is to transplant, but next time we contact the guy we know at TRD, we will certainly ask the question

Ta Steve
The reason I ask is because a member of another MR2 forum met Tom at a garage and went over and saw that the battery gauge was present. I would have thought that if TRD did the conversion of possibly the only factory turbo, then they would have put in a boost gauge.
Anyway, no hurry at all on that question - whenever you speak to your contact
P.S. I am really enjoying my MR2 only mags

Already know all that, still doesn't negate the fact that there was at least one built before the supposed "No1" that you featured. Its not hard to understand, its as clear as day to anyone with a working pair of eyes and a bit of sense
