Hi, I have only seen a MKIII in pictures or driving past, never in the metal. We have some events and things coming up so hopefully might meet up then.
Welcome to the board!

You want Pics do you?
To be honest I've not really done all that much with it since I bought it. Mos of the changes are invisible (but then aren't they the most important ones). Suspension bushings have been replaced, shifter bushings replaced with brass ones, TRD short shifter installed. Steel braided Clutch line.TRD rear brace. Braided brake lines I have, but I'm a bit lazy so I'll put them in when I change the discs and pads, will probably get the calipers painted then too.
As regards the exterior..... TRD lip kit, post facelift rear lights and brand new pre facelift headlights. Toyota 'MR-S' side badges JDM nose badge(thanks M&M) and Clear side repeaters(Thanks SimonTan).
Interior: Leather skins for the seats, Kenwood black panel radio with ipod connection, Audiobahn components and trd shift knob.
Have a hard top to match the car but it's summer, so I'm being optomistic and leaving it off.
Engine: Che header, new head studs and a few more bits I've not gotten around to installing yet.
This is her:

Thats a sweet mk3 - we've a mk1 and a load of mk2s for Japfest - hpoefully you can make japfest so we'll have mk1, 2 & 3
If you're going to Japfest, pm me your reg, as Mondello need to have all the regs of the cars entering the club paddock area, in advance.

Stick your name in the list or either/both events if you can make it,
if you can't make either then check the events section regularly, there'll be more to come

I don't think I'll make it down to Japfest. Pity..... would have been a good opportunity for a meet n' greet. Still I'm sure there'll be a next time.
I've a couple of things to get sorted on the car anyways. The front lip ran afoul of a rock on the road, which pretty much took out most of the under side of it. I've got a new one in the meantime but I've just not had the chance to paint it. UNdercaoted it about 3 weeks ago and haven't touched it since. There's various other scuffs I'd like to get buffed out aswell.
Just like everyone else there's a to do list.

You'll see that there's some new images coming in to the site header also. I put a call out on Spyderchat and some of the guys sent some in for us.

Very good of you to Cater for us mkIII owners, even though we're few and far between in Ireland.

I've seen quite a few driving around, so you never know there might be more joining up yet
So fancy putting your car on the dyno for a bit of craic? don't need a painted front lip for that

A laugh is what it would be at the moment mate. She was running very sluggish, very tapetty for a couple of days until I noticed the seal on my oil filter had gone, so there was a serious pressure drop. Luckily I noticed this on one of my frequent trips under the car, so it's been taken care of nice and quickly. The filter has been replaced but I'm afraid of potential damage to the other seals on the oil pan so I've removed the oil pan and the seal, scooped out any goo in the bottom of the pan and now it's spotless. Just waiting on the seal to arrive and she'll be as good as new.

There's a fair few mk3's around but very few enthusiasts driving them imo, i wouldn't even bother giving a wave/flash to a mk3 driver because the majority of them probably don't even realise that we're driving different mk's of the same car.
I do like the mk3's though and that is a nice one, I admire your optimism leaving soft top on

Like most, I have given it some thought.
The thing is, the MkIII (much like the Mk1 and 2) is part of a dying breed, the production mid-engined sports car. Whether any of us would like to admit it or not, the age of the petrolhead is coming to a close. In my opinion the late 80's, 90's and early 00's saw the conception and realisation of the most amazing production cars ever built and the MkIII Mr2 is, for me, the quintessential purist's production sports car; perfectly balanced, mid engined, rear wheel drive, 2 seats and a soft roof. Only 140bhp and yet could give most performance machines a run for their money on B roads.
As such, it's a future classic. Something I'd love to hold onto forever. To hold onto it's origins only subtle changes are what I'm after. The gear selectors and shifter have had all the rubber taken out to give a more sporty aggressive shift. Bushing are being replaced over time to tighten things up, mechanical LSD to overcome the lack of Traction control. I may go with some bracing and other structural bits but I'd like to keep the engine NA. Maybe some uprated cams and/or pistons. But if I go down that route I think what I might do is get a 2nd hand engine and build it as I want it, then drop it straight in. 180-200 hp would be plenty.
There is a guy down south with a Hass stage 1 set up I think. CAn't remember his name though.

Well if you flash the lights at me, I will flash back I know what you mean though.
I read somewhere in the paper today that September is supposed to be somewhat of an Indian summer so I'm hoping to squeeze a few more 'topless' days out of the '2 this year. But by the end of September, the hard top will most definitely be back on.

Too true, they are a very special car. The boost feeling with a turbo is addictive though

I'll keep an eye out for you
I'd take that report with a pinch of salt, i read a report before the summer saying we were in for 30+ degrees on a regular basis I have 2 weeks off during September though so I hope it's right

yeah, before the "summer", I actually had the top down loads of times this year. Met Office said we're going to have hotter, drier summers and milder, wetter winters. Well, if the summer just gone was an example of hot and dry, I think we're all f&*^%d !
Fingers crossed for the Indian Summer starting Saturday - I'll be doing my clean/shine Sat afternoon and hoping it will stay dry ...

I did actually. but I collected it the day it arrived on the truck. I got a decent deal so I'm not going to complain, but they did manage to lose the key for it which sounded ropey to me but it turned out that it was locked into the car. I took the pic just before taking delivery.
So you've heard bad reports then? Like what? As I mentioned on another thread I'm looking at buying something quick with 4 doors and a big boot and I'm thinking Jap import again (I've been badly burned by euro cars - heap of dirt beemers). I was thinking of going back to the same place I got the '2 but I had noticed that they seem to be a bit pricey and that the mileage seems to be the same for every car they sell. If you've heard bad reports you might pass them on to me. Probably best by PM though. No need to Poo Poo someones business in the public domain.
On a similar note, does anyone know anything about Capital Motors, formerly Southside Automotive?

I think it's more to do with their attitude than the cars themselves, I've never dealt with them myself so can't really say anymore than that, if you've bought from them before and had no problems then i see no reason not to go with them again.
My cousin runs a Jap import place, what kind of car are you looking for, they have a torneo euro r, not sure if they have anything else fast with 4 doors
