Boost pressure issues 2 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 22
Hey guys,
After breaking the car in from rebuild i gave it the beans the other night and shes overboosting really bad. Set the limits to standard .8 bar and cut off to 1.1 and she blew 1.4 before i let off. I dont fully understand these systems at all and am very tempted to put in a standard recirc valve and 1 bar actuator but would rather fix this problem. I didnt fit the system so dont have a clue how it operates from the solonoid to the controller to the turbo and bov. Its a full HKS system
Any ideas???

What turbo are you running ? And what are you using as a boost controller ?

I've only used the Apexi AVC-R and not familir with the EVC4 - but if you set the boost lower, does it still spike to 1.4 ?

e.g. if you set it to 0.5 bar boost, will it still spike to 1.4 or say 1.1 ?

Is your actuator and rod standard? if your rod is too short then the controller will have problems.

If you're suffering from lag, you're either in the wrong gear or the wrong car!

Not sure! All i know is that before the forged build it went up and mainained whatever setting i wanted so i presume the actuator that came out is the same as the one that went in. would lowering the compression ratio have had an effect maybe with the build i have weisco 87.5mm pistons in there!

Well if you have a forged build then 1.4 bar sounds ok!

Not sure if lowering the compression would do that - maybe you had a boost leak before and it got fixed when the engine was put back in?

lol always the way.

Well if you have some kind of leak between the boost controller and the wastegate actuator then yes you will have a problem. Maybe check to see if the hose is torn or if the clips aren't tight?
