Hello esteemed members I have a little problem and wanted to hear some of your opinions So basically theres a small metally rattle coming from underneath the main engine block ,it sounds like a small washer or nut thats rattling around. This only happens at roughly 1500-2000 rpm and as the engine comes up to temperature it fades slightly.Ive been told that its a worn ballbearing in the drive shaft and would cost about 299 for replacement part . Has anyone had this problem before?? Also i can hear a kind of electrical hum coming from the radiator area of the car , only noticed it today so am i just hearing new noises or are they known for making this noise. the engine was running and i had the side lights on . cheers in advance guys .

The rattle could be a worn clutch release bearing, it is possible to spray oil at the bearing from an inspection panel. do that and see if the noise changes, if not at least you can rule it out.

As for the Hum its in you head

But really, was the air con on, I don't know if that could be the hum, doubt it as the a/c pump is in the engine bay.

How about the power steering pump, how are your fluid levels.

Thats all my guess's out of the way.

Would you believe - I have a Rattle and Hum as well.

My clutch is definitely the rattle - when engaged it is fine but when I release, it makes a very annoying noise. This is since I got the upgraded clutch in.

And I have the same electrical hum. I wish I could sort my clutch and concentrate on my other noises. I'm worried that my clutch may give my engine a false knock reading

some upgraded clutches make that noise and it is normal for them, just a pain to listen to..

as for the rattle noise, my guess is the catalytic converter.
