I was in Galway with my wife on the 20th & 21st of June for our 2nd wedding anniversery. We were walking back to our hotel (Western Hotel) with quite a lot of booze consumed that day. I noticed the MR2 across the road. When we stopped that was when I noticed it had the MRD sideskirts and front bumper on it. It looked very nice and my wife gave it the thumbs up as well.

Not quite that much booze Spidey For those that are not sure what a MRD kit looks like, it's something like the one below. It is quite rare and was fairly expensive when new.

Is the caved in bonnet part of the kit or just a custom upgrade on that silver one?

I am 90% sure that the bonnet was part of the kit.

The MR2 in Galway did not have that caved bonnet and it did had a black centre piece between the rev 3 rear lights. The Galway MR2 looked better in person than the photos of the examples.

I had an MRD exhaust on my first turbo - had carbon fibre cans (assume they were just wrapped).

Pity MRD disappeared

There is an MRD kitted 2 on ebay UK at the mo. Low mileage rev2

hmm, I'm in two minds about the front bumper. it's quite clean looking but makes the front of the car very big looking??

Quite a comprehensive design though.

The MkII MR2 has been refered to looking as a bit like a Ferrari. Well as an owner of an MR2, to me the white one I saw in Galway with the MRD (Mental Racing Development) kit said "Ferrari style" without trying to look like one. If that makes any sense.

Seriously though, I cant say i'm loving the front, cant quite put my finger on it. Its just a bit round and swooshy or something. Having said that, the grey car above does pull it off.. It's just a very neat and striking looking car as a whole.

I'm off to Galway in the morning myself. Work from the Galway office for the day then out on the razz with the lads. I may spot the car while I am there and have a good look at it. Nice machine for the money, for someone looking for a turbo, specially with it having such a rare kit on it. Nice to have something that nobody else in the forum has, a little bit of exclusivity!

Just been chatting (by text) to the guy selling the MRD kitted MR2.

He genuinely doesn't want to sell it, he has to with work etc. He has poured loads of time and money into the car and loves it. I told him to post it up here and I told him about the car show on Sunday and our stand. I also mentioned that he had a rare MRD kit but he already knew, said he has the original sales fliers etc. That's all the right noises for a serious enthusiast.

I tell ya Quandry, if I won the lotto, I would buy a nice big house on a good bit of land and buy one of those big hanger type garages and just fill it with MR2's and MR2 bits n bobs. I jack in the job and just mess with MR2's all day, every day.

Id even host MR2 parties.....

I am a Galway resident and see the car very regularly. Was it parked outside Cuba night club by any chance? Would love to find out who owns it. There are a few Twos knocking around Galway but have never really met any of them.

I work weekends but am trying to get it off! Would love to meet up with some more twos. As soon as I know i'll let ye know.

Let's just home the car isn't in the garage at that time.

I am sure that it will be great craic in Athlone, but I can't see myself going. My car is still off the road .
