Hey guys, looking for a few suggestions for a birthday present for my 30th (In September). My girlfriend wants to know what to get me and I have no idea what to ask for!!! Do you guys have any ideas? I already have a nice phone, all the gaming consoles and that sort of thing, she said she might go halves on new alloys but that's a bit too pricey I think, especially when you factor in new tyres.
So what do you guys think? What did (those of you that have reached 30) you get for your 30th?
I got my wife a racing day at mondello, she did well in the mazda's then at the end of the day you get to go around the track in a one seater formula one style car, on the last bend of her first lap she slammed into the hill and smashed the nose cone off, oops
I would suggest the Rally school of Ireland, platinum package is great. I have done about five or six of these and I never tire of them. I reckon the experience I gained there has saved my life at least twice (not kidding)
The day starts with an informal, formal chat about how to drive the cars, then your straght into a Mrk II escort for a instructed drive and during the day progress into a full WRC subaru. It is a great day / expensive, but great.

I also cannot remember my 30th birthday, the joy of mispent youth
I'd love to get one of those 350z's onto the drift circuit but €450 is a bit pricey! Awesome idea though Though in fairness I was considering getting some alloys for my 2. Where's a good place to get them?
From my experience at RSI I would say to you if you can stretch it, it is an unforgettable experience and after you do it once you will want to go back the next day.

It's that good.
That's as good a recommendation as it can get I reckon
I used to be really into RC cars, boats and planes when I was younger. Never really lost the interest, just fell out of it because of time and stuff.
Anyway, always wanted an RC truck. Looked into these a couple of years ago but then forgot about them. So, I came across these again recently and did a lot of research and decided to get one. Not cheap, between the truck itself, the multi function computer (all sounds and lights etc) and the radio gear, you could spend between 700 and 1000 euro!
Finally decided to buy the truck for now anyway, got a great deal on ebay last night, 300euro delivered, local hobby shop wanted 500 euro for a smaller euro style truck, but I wanted a US style juggernaut type truck, bigger and badder, delivered and all for 200euro less than the Scania type...Niiiice!
Then the girlfriend decided that this could be my 30th birthday pressie!! Cool!
That means I can get the radio gear and multi funtion unit to really bring this to life.
My birthday is not until the end of Oct, but this could take 2 weeks to arrive and appartantly takes 2-3 weeks to build, so that will bring it a bit closer.
They are made by Tamiya. They are 1:14 scale, so pretty big and properly awesome! As for the American style truck, there are four types, The Knight Hauler, the King Hauler, the Ford Aeromax and the Globe Liner. Then of course there are the euro types, Scania, Volvo and Mercedes etc. They all have servo controled 3 speed gearbox and have a master and slave rear diff's for the rear axles. You have to build all of that from scratch.
I got the Knight Hauler, check out some vids:
You can search youtube for a crap load more vids from people who bought and built them.
My girlfriend got me a track day there a couple of years ago it was excellent. I did a write up on another forum about it. I will post it here after I have a look for it.

To the OP - what about a nice watch or something? I love watches Or a trip away somewhere? Maybe Amsterdam
I thought about that but decided against it, I'd like to get something I can show off to my mates, look what my girlfriend got me kinda thing. Though I'll get to a track day at some stage I think. One of her cousins does Rally Driving I believe so I'll be chatting to him about it at some stage
I'm not a watch fan myself as dshamrock will tell you lol A holiday is a good idea, been to amsterdam a few times already, great place lol

That is pretty awesome man But I've a few things on at the moment that are eating into my free time so maybe for another day. I love that you get the trailer My girlfriend is getting me a cool little RC copter though
What I decided for in the end was the new HTC Desire smartphone. I like my gadgets and my phone gets a lot of use so it's the perfect pressie for me, my girlfriend was kind enough and crazy enough to get this for me, can't wait to get it now!
