Looks like a proper event, lots of nice MR2s. It's seeing events like these that gets me more and more anxious to get my Full license!

Just to be clear, and in case any members of the appropriate council see this, we didn't cause that damage :)

Spanky, dont worry mate, ALL the tables are like that and they look they have been for a long time. They are well used and abused, im sure the council are aware of that. Also, thats actual fire damage on most of the tables. We had no fire, just a good old fashioned BBQ!

Shame no one got a pic of my trustee 6x2 planks (used to get the front of my 2 onto my ramps) that saved the table we were at. They are ruined, so much that I just left them there

I have just noticed my Karma score ... cheers to all who have clicked me. In your face Ray

I wouldn't worry about it too much, most of them are probably people brought here from search engines/links etc and probably some members who have signed up but just don't log in unless they see something they want to post on.

Just saying, we are all writing openly and have no idea who is reading it. So I am just more aware of what we write, thats all, ie, security, privacy, parts demand etc etc.. There are a lot of people online reading the forum that are not signed up, could be anyone, could be your granny, your neighbour, your wife, old teacher, ex bf/gf or one of your many stalkers. Not loving it.

Steve, if you want to hide something from unregistered members, just hit this symbol
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG in the "boardcode" bar. I suppose it works for some details but not really practical to have entire threads like that, might aswell make it a private forum then

Ah Devilly, of course I remember you mate. Yep, couple of dodgy moments where we lost our "hosts" and had to make a best guess as to where they went! HAHA!

I think it helps to know the roads, just means we should be better navigators next year. Was a great day and very much enjoyed by us. Thanks to all of you for being so welcoming, was a pleasure to meet you all and looking forward to the next time. Of course, you are more than welcome along to any of our meets, just keep an eye on the site and tag along.

RE the wink mod, I thought I would get laughed out of it, but it seems that a lot of people want to do it now. Its dead easy, takes a few minutes to do, once you have the bits you need, basically the following:

A momentary push button switch (opposed to a latching one so its off once you release)

Approx 6 foot of dual speaker wire

Some wire connectors to splice the switch wire to the wires in the light relay

I may put up a how to, but I dont think I took enough pics along the way. You could always to what I did and follow this guide by Marc2Turbo on MR2oc.co.uk:
www.mr2oc.co.uk/forums/topic.html?f=58&t=132859&start=0

PS, welcome aboard and congrats for stepping out of the dark!

Re:Photo's from the 2nd Annual Coast run & bbq 2B 9 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 148
Dont mind that bit, he is just explaining how it works and why. Basically, all you are doing is momentarily giving the light the command to retract by connecting a live (white with red stripe) to the wire that controls which ever light you choose (right or left, I choose left/passenger, which is the red wire, second in from right side of connector block as per pics from the link I posted above) Once you release the command, the light returns to up as that is where they are set when the lights are on. Its pretty straight forward really.

When you are doing it, you should have nothing on or you will shock yourself to shit, so your lights should be down and off, in fact, its not a bad idea to disconnect the battery when working on electrics. You may think its only a 12V battery, but volts dont kill rappers, Amps do, and you could have a 60 or 80 amp battery. 80AMPS DC will stick you straight to it and fry you, you wont be able to let go like AC mains current, which is 230V but only like 13amps. I didnt disconnect the batt, but im confident enough with what I am doing. The position of the lights when you are wiring is irrelevant anyway, its when you push the button that the mod comes into play, other than that, everything is completely as per normal, but make sure you use a momentary switch, this is just a spring that switches back off when you let go as opposed to latching, which is push once for on, push again for off. That's no good here.

If you use splice connectors like below, on one wire at a time with everything switched off, you should be well safe:
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

Some might think that these are not the tidiest way of doing things, I might agree for areas where you will see them, but where they are out of sight, they are great. I personally decided that I wanted a neater job, so physically cut the wires and used a very neat slim connector to splice the new switch wire in. However, it turned out to be a nightmare. There is no space in under that relay to work. I could barely fit my hand in, never mind a pliers or anything. It took a while and some cursing but I got it in the end and it looks like it was never touched, very neat, but if I was doing it again I would just use the crimp connectors.

Sure give me a shout by post or PM if you are stuck and I can help, or if you like, if you are ever down this way, ill give you a hand. :)
