Please forgive my ignorance in asking this question as im not sure of the names of everything in the engine bay.

My question involves the part of the engine just below the inlet manifold and spark plug leads in the picture above

when having a look around the engine i noticed that the two bolts in the centre nearest the engine lid catch were completely loose. I could just lift them out by hand. the bolts had bits of metal in their thread so its not the bolts themseleves that have failed but the threads in the thing itself.

Anyway, to my question. Is this an issue, could air be getting in here as these two bolts weren't doing their job, what should I do?

Suggestions are welcome :)

Could anyone tell me what this part of the engine is called?

thats still the inlet manifold, i opened up mine no problem their are some valves inside it for air i think not 100% sure

are you talking about the cam cover? where the spark leads plug into?

No i think you guessed what i meant in your first post-i thought it was part of the inlet manifold alright just wssnt surw-thanks dude.

It hasntt affected how the car drives so it must not be too big a deal.

you should drill tap and helicoil it mate i just bought a set last week for doing it best things ever what part of the country are you in?

Im in Dublin. Just having a look at some of those drill sets on ebay-never even thought of that as an option-defo worth a try-good work.
