Welcome aboard eggie.. sometimes the right 2 can take a while to find but hang in there.
I'd be tempted to buy the Rev5 Turlock is selling but the wife would kill me.... (and I'd have to change the colour to SMG lol)

10th Anni tubby ... I didn't think there as such a thing. Could be a conversion and if so then you would want details of who done the work etc

VRT does add cost but opening up your search area gives you more choice and you might get a bargain which would end up costing the same at the end of the day.
EG the link below is for a rev2 tubby that is being sold in Belfast for £2k

Its actually really easy to "import" a car. My GF and I went to Belfast to buy her Celica. Got a nice one on the road, VRT'd, new plates, ready to roll for 3.4K euro (year 2000). Closest clean one here at the time was 5K plus. Anything less than that was a junker. Just go to the VRT office or use this link for an idea upfront:

and the exchange rate is still in your favour at approx. €1.20=£1 .... not so long ago it was closer to €1.60=£1
EDIT:
The VRT for my rev3 tubby works out at €1100. You could allow roughly £1000 on any price you see for a car in the north for a directly price comparison. If you end up looking at cars in England then I would allow an additional £500 again on top of this for flights, boats etc

VRT is slightly lower on Jap imports, but then insurance can be a little bit higher.
UK cars are usually in great nick with nice extras and are usually well looked after with decent history. Only possible down side or thing to look out for, is rust. This is because the UK use salt on the roads instead of grit during the winter months and the salt is corrosive, not metal friendly. There can be rust under arches and sills etc unless previous owners washed the car regularly and thoroughly to remove salt deposits.
Sorry, I know most people know all that, but some newer members may not.
Also, Punky, that is not likely. Best thing to do is print off your own map and mark in member locations yourself, should they wish that info to be known. Some people don't for obvious reasons. This is a publicly accessible forum and all info here can be read by anyone.

I'd be a bit careful with giving away exact locations of where your're based on an open forum. You can never be too careful nowadays
If you want to arrange a mini-meet, I'd suggest dropping a pm to the guys around Galway, Mayo and see where they are based and if you then decide on a place for a meet, maybe put the meet location up on the site.

Folks, I wasn't expecting people to put in their addresses but maybe the county that they reside. This doesn't give away much but help other members connect in their locality. What say ye?

We were just referring to the map suggestion, just might be a bit too much, unless you blank out the whole county.
As for a list of owners v counties etc, already done:
What county has the most twos?

Im glad to see a possy building up in the west, you lot should be able to get together at least once a month for a Galway mini meet. Maybe some surrounding counties could pile in too.
