WTB - set of headlights 1 Year, 10 Months ago Karma: 165
Looking for a set of cheap headlights - actually, I don't even need them to keep - borrowing would also be good - but it'd be for a few months min.

Reason I am after them is that I have sourced a cheap set of GTO headlights (4" x 6") and I am looking to make a set of custom low-rise headlights. Its going to be a lot of trial and error.

So, when I do get them finished, I'll have my current ones, which are ion perfect nick, to give back.

Plus, I'll have a comprehensive how-to on low-rise headlights for those that want to try it.

Let me know if anyone has a set for sale or to borrow (note, it will be a few months min, as I don't get as much time to tinker with my 2 as before the kids arrived !)

There's actually a good few 4"x6" lights available in the US but their beam pattern (DOT)is slightly different to Ireland, UK etc I think the light shines higher

So, that's why I had to look out for a set of lights from a UK GTO

Aw no - I don't want to take them off a complete car. Only if someone had a spare set.

Keep yours - nothing worse than seeing your 2 with bits missing Keep them on - it'll keep you mpotivated to get yours back on the road.

No hurry on my side - don't worry, I'll get a set from a breakers.

I agree with Dave, keep ur eye on ebay, u can pick up a cheap set to mess around with! Way easier than trawling through breakers.

HOWEVER, have you tried Traynors breakers up north? They are good! I need to take a trip up there soon myself.

traynors.biz/

They currently have 10 MR2's for breaking and 60, yes 60 already dismantled. Now thats a mix of MKI, MKII & MKIII, see link:
80.76.198.40/yard/yard.aspx

Looking at all the 2's there, makes you wonder what kind of rare goodies you could stumble across!! Eh? Eh? Eh?

Sounds good

I had a hunt through their website, they say they have a 1998 there so I got excited... then I looked a few lines down and they said they had a 1995, I clicked on the pics and find that I'm looking at a Rev1! square tail lights and restrictive bellmouth to boot!

So maybe there 1998 is a Rev3?

Who knows Quandry? You would really need to be there and have a look in the flesh. I am in Belfast on Monday to give a presentation to the PSNI so I plan to drop in on the way home. I need a few bits myself but ill have a look for a Rev 5 wing and give you a call if I find one. I can always text you a pic and if you want I can take it, providing they have one to begin with!!

If you have room, could you pick up a set of headlights for me ?
If so, I'll check with them later today to confirm they have them in and ready.

Is this the branch of Traynors where you are going to ?

9 Trench Road
Newtonabbey
Belfast

I thought years ago I went up and there was one near Newry ???

And I can't remember either but are they the type of breakers which have parts off the shelf and if not, they get them for you ? I've been in some breakers years ago and you just went into the yard - but you had to bring your own tools and get the parts yourself.
