Just wondering what speeds we are all getting from our cars. I could not believe that
I got up to 140mph in my na. No idea what the 0-60 is, might be 8 or 9 secs. I am not a fan of speed and would only test it on a proper track day.

Wheel size will affect this greatly, on standard 15s our trackcar is doing 120 in 4th and still not on the limiter. Speedos are usually about 10% inaccurate, larger wheels bring it closer to true speed.

As speedos get older, they tend to go more out of whack also..

I got 150 out of my old Mr2 turbo, got main road closed near Enniskillen for a few mins to find out what she could do, (friends in low places, ,) when I got to 150 I eased off the pedal,i'm not a huge fan of speed

concentration levels go up and petrol levels go down (rapidly) I've gotten 140 (old money) out of mine on the M6 but it's far too fast tbh

I have only ever driven my car on the public road so the only time I get over 70mph is south of the border where I speed up 120kph

I've toolboxes, fluids, everything in there as well
They are pricey enough the deflectors :

Seriously 140mph from 2.0 NA, wow, o didn't think they could go that fast....
The wind deflectors at the front just give the steering stability at high speed, by deflecting the wind from front tyres, apparently.

Indeed (and she still had some left in her)I wouldn't make a habit of it though! I've gotten 122mph (flat out )out a 95 1.6 primera so that should put things in perspective.

There are a few porkies being told on this page. 160mph is 257.495 km per hour. If you are managing to get that speed out of an Mr2 then hats off. It must have been a very steep hill.

TBH if I had GPS'ed the speedo it would probably be between 130-135 real world figures! But it was 140 as far as my eyes were concerned....blew any cobwebs in the system

Your speedo is deliberately 10%+ out when you run on standard wheels and tyres.
When it reads 70, you are doing about 63(ish). If it is reading 140 then you are probably closer to 125 and if it reads 300 then you are talking crap
Change the size of your rear wheels and this changes. Increase the diameter will increase the actual speed but speedo speed doesn't alter as it is taken from the gearbox and so doesn't bear any reference to the rolling circumference.
My car, on 245/45/17s, reads 70 when it is doing 70. My other car reads 76 when it is doing 70.
I have heard it said that a GPS/Sat Nav is accurate to about 1mph so you could use that to get an idea of your actual speed. Phone app GPS speedos may be slightly less accurate

JDM speedo is accurate up to circa 120kph, after that it will be out by circa 10% as Spanky says.
Anybody who has been over 150mph will well know about it, especially when call upon to stop. Its a scary place to be (I have been told).

Strangely this doesnt seem to be the case with cars in america. On hols last year the speedo read exactly the same as the sat nav

I had a berlingo van and it was km for km accurate! ..it wouldn't pull snow off a rope though...now that yoke was dangerous

If you have the same wheels all round as I do and I raced another mr2 with the same engine etc, but with 225 on the rear, at the top end I should go faster as I dont have as much drag. Would that be right?

I have clocked out my 2 at approx 190kmh....she goes past the 180 and hits the pin and wants to go more... I am delimiting it soon by confusing the ecu and thinking its mph instead of kmh... So 120kmh on the clock is actually 120mph... That should be fun... Could do with a 6th gear tho... Not bad out of a 140 brake n/a 1.8 mr2 IMHO
