have a standard ecu in my 89 rev1 tubby, i also have a blitz access ecu, would there be any ill effects if i plugged the blitz one in to see if it improves things or could i cause damage, as far as i no the blitz ecu can't be remapped but i taught i might ask the greater knowledged people (ie everyone)

All of life’s problems can be solved with two things—duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn’t, you need duct tape. And if it doesn’t move and it should, you need WD40

I think Ricky has a blitz one, he may be able to answer this for you

Although the Blitz cant be mapped, it is obviously pre mapped (factory) to run with a certain setup, ie, exhaust, intake, boost and so on. I would look up what mods/setup the ECU is best set up for, before plugging it in. If the map is way off from where you car is set-up, I would imagine that it would not even run as well as your stock ECU.
I am open to correction, just my opinion.

I would agree with Swagger. In Japan they tune the engines for the higher octane that is available at the pumps. I would consider it to be risky using the Blitz unit because of the points Swagger mentioned. What mods have been done to your MR2 ?

If you did want to try it, you could bring it along to a dyno and you'd know if your AFRs are okay, not knocking etc.
That would be safest way to check it out.

Thats what I'am going to do with mine in september.
There is is a difference in driving it must be the extra addvance in the timing even with the same settings on the IBC. I run my rev2 with RON97 fuel(uk spec)and some octane booster. was your car imported with the blitz ECU?
ps The knock censor and fault codes still work
