this is exactly what i want to do with the side of my car regarding smoothing...
I spoke to a painter about it recently, he advised me against filling the doors,
but said you really need to weld in some metal, as the filler will fall out eventually with all the banging of the doors. Kinda makes sense, does anyone have any thoughts on this?

No first hand experience from myself, but it does sound logical. Did he give you any idea on price? I want to get the 'shaved' look too...

He was basically saying its alot of work for 'vanity' Which i can see his point, but its where i want to go..
It just takes the dated look off nicely IMO.
