off topic but how do these companies get away with making replica kits, it must be illegal on some level

You would be talking 7 to 800eur depending on the exchange rate and shipping from Japan.

Its hard to police - they just need to make a subtle change and call it a "type B" etc. I think the legal costs of chasing up people would cost way more than they are loosing out on to copies

It's also a shame that the genuine article is so expensive, as if they were a more reasonable cost then people would buy them gladly.

Are the original Made from different material?

Not as far as I know - all fibreglass. I think where the price difference comes in is that Border have MR2's to test fit their moulds etc. Lots of other companies get a hold of a mould and copy it and no test fitting.

Replikit are test producing and test fitting in-house, so fingers crossed they will be a supplier of guaranteed fitting Border fronts

I'm going to ask about a group buy. Hopefully they can save on shipping and a discount for orders of 3+

Where do people put their front number plate? And do you need smaller fog lights?

Replikit just updated - for orders of 3 or more, they can do it for £199.76 + £50 courier. So, £250 per bumper delivered for 3+. Works out about 280-285 euros at current exchange rates.

@Harper - the stock fog lights will fit but as far as I remember, you'll need to fab up something to mount them on, as they don't line up with the stock fog light location.

Right, firstly I love the Border look. I know I have a nice rare SARD front bumper, but its too low for me, keeps catching on ramps and even steep hills. I am hoping a new set of larger rims may lift the front a tiny bit and clear most stuff. If not, its coming off, dont care how rare, I hate chipped or broken fiberglass, just looks pants. I want my body work 100%.

So if the rims dont help, the SARD bumper is off in favour of a Border. That means ill either keep the SARD spare somewhere or sell it if anyone is interested.

Ill stick my name down provisionally until I see how the new rims leave me.

Anyone know if the Border bumper is particularly low or troublesome? I am guessing its not much lower than the stock bumper by the looks of it.

The Border is definitely longer than stock but not sure how long it is in relation to the SARD front.

I want one more now ....

Just saw that 3S on IMOC have posted up to say that they bought a Border front from Replikit and is a good fit. I've asked 3S to elaborate on "good fit" and a few pics.

I will remove my name from this list as my bumper issues have vanished with the new rims. Got just enough of a lift to be clear of all the ramps and crap. Plus, I love the look of it now, really has grown on me more and more.

Okay, got my Border front from Replikit - only charged 285 euros incl Delivery.

First impressions - great quality fibreglass - fit is great.

I'll get pics up over the weekdnd. Still have to check light fittings. Holes are not pre-drilled but its much better that way in case you want to move it up or down by a mil or two etc.

Yes, Toms rear is deifnitely on the wish-list. But funds have run dry after Border front, new alarm and got to get this front sprayed as well.

I must suggest to Replikit that a Toms rear would be popular. What are the other options ? All spats ?

I think Replikit said they need 5 pre-orders to make sure they break even.

Added drivers side lights. If you're not handy with a Dremel, don't try this

I have to do the passenger side lights tomorrow and then put back on the Undertrays. The undertrays will pull it in a little (at the mo, it looks like it is sticking out a bit).
