I was inquiring recently about plastidip and I was informed by a couple of guys who have used it in the past that they are now using Frosts liquid wrap instead, it's similar product but apparently you can get better results with it.
Here is there website...
www.frost.co.uk/coatings/frost-liquid-wr...r-coating-spray.html

I know a guy who supplies it in the north but there may be a supplier in the south as well.
Just thought I'd let you know if you are set on a plastidip style paint job.

Fair play dmac looking good so far I have to agree with Marty and spla. Paint work takes severe patience and no harm to put a few halogen lights around the car and look at it from different angles.
Also a tip, use a high built primer that will cover most minor imperfections
And spray a mist of black paint over it.
Wet sand with p1800 till black mist spray is gone at least you will know ya havent missed a spot and repeat this if needed.
Its all in the prep. Even leonardi Di vinci couldnt make it look flawless without prepping it right.
Im going to spray my own when it comes down to it so I feel ur pain.
Best of luck.. Also trds look mad watever the colour.

how are you gonna bolt the door on after everything is bonded?
Dosent look like the wing will come off easy as its moulded into the sideskirt.

Ah here spla im not that bad the doors were taken off to be filled they will go back on no problems, i had them on when everything was bonded to make sure they passed the sideskirts without rubbing

In this pic its all bonded the cardboard is jammed between the door and sideskirt to give a gap when the bond sets and the door is on

Re: 2000 gt wide arch kit build 9 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 72
Ive no doubt you know how to bolt them back on, its just that i always take the wing off to take the door off and it dosent look like your wing will come off yours thats why im asking.
But thats a good way of taking them off too actually, i think ur onto something there lol
I always take mine off leaving the hinges on the door.
Ur doing great keep it up, cant wait to get mine finished for the summer too i know exactly how you feel, im nearly on the prepping stage too now.

I leave the hinges on the car because there is a guide on the bolts so no lining up of the door it only goes in one place where toyota wanted it to go
Whats your project ?

First off, one mans drink is another mans poison and all that.

Personally I think it is just OK.

I would need to see it in the "flesh" if I was going to commit to doing something like that.

I won't say that I don't like it, but I have seen a lot nicer paint jobs.

If you do go ahead and do it yourself, I definitely want to see it in person.

The reason being, my MR2 needs a respray to freshen it up.

As far as I can tell, with the plasidip, you have two options.

1. Play it safe and choose a more acceptable common car colour.

2. Be really radical and try something bonkers. You may get fed up with it in the near future though.

I'm not sure on the relocation as that would put it within the cabin.

I'm thinking on the safety aspect.

I had plans of installing a Audi TT filler cap a bit further back from the original flap.
