Just hoovered the car for the nct - forgot about the 2 dehumidifiers I had left behind the seats - almost a litre of water extracted from the air - cursed tbar

Cheap as chips 1.50 each 2 euro store or homestore do them...checked northside earlier and none left there

Nah checked all the flexi hoses yesterday nice and clean some surface rust on one I coated up the metal bits with copper grease

He couldnt close the bonnet - catch can be sticky if pulled out to far - passed now 

what are the odds of this happening

Bonnet catch, that's an odd one! ha at least its sorted now! Did the brake light go while in the test centre???

Cheers lads reckon it might have gone during the test because it wasnt on the fail report

Catch has been sticking if you pull it too far - just push in wire and it releases

Wouldnt mind but I checked them all yesterday

Will get to it tomorrow

See above - the tester wasnt able to close my bonnet

oh yeah, sorry, normally when you see failed dangerous sign there's 3 sheets of fails with it, good to see it passed

Nice one Eringobragh Kc'd, I had my NCT last Sunday.

So car has been laid up for a year (2 track days excluded), drove it with passion for a couple of days. Brought it in and one of the testers tried to us the lights to tear his finger off when he mate turned on the lights and he was trying to lift the bonnet concurrently. Bad start so, I was now nervous that the car would be victimised.

Thankfully not, flew straight thru the emissions, brake test was good, suspension was good and the visual inspection went swimmingly. Door to door including medical attention 20 mins and

Tester commented how how clean and tight the car was, so me was well delighted with myself :)

that sticker on front window from first tet makes car more dangerous...I'd say there will be market soon for those stickers

Think i'll have to go get a pair of those dehumidifiers myself.

Do you know about over how many days it took to collect a litre of water ?

Does it keep the car fairly dry ?

I was shocked to see that sticker on your car as I know how well you mind it . Well done for sorting it out Ciaran and kc`d for the dehumidifier tip . I need that for my wife`s car .

@Spidey - I actually forgot about them so they must be there at least 2 months I reckon, yeah windows started fogging again recently but that was related to the litre of water in the containers - I've put 2 new ones in they are €1 each in Eurogiant in Clarehall Tesco. If your having fogging issues theres a great product called fog fight



Have it myself and actually need to redo the car at some stage

Use any soapy substance on the inside of the windscreen i.e. shampoo or washing up liquid that will stop it from fogging up too . I`ve had to use it in emergencies before when the dehumidifier fans in a vehicles stop working and it`s lashing rain outside and lots of passengers inside causing the entire windscreen to fog up .
Here`s another professional drivers tip . If your windscreen wiper stops working cut a potato in half and rub the cut part on the outside of the windscreen this causes the rain to run off the screen . The only problem is that in our beautiful land of the potato you`ll never find one when your driving along and this problem strikes
Note to self must keep potato and soapy liquid in cab .
