Been with them a few years now, fully comp with limited mileage for small money, as long as you can show that you have another vehicle as your primary.

remember one of the lads on here threatened 123.ie with the insurance ombudsman and got a policy with them - shame they wont insure jap imports as they are very competitive pricewise.

They definitely do Southern Ireland for classic policy's. I have mine and I know at least 3 other people who have them since i got mine.

Is it your only car? They only do classic...

That's weird ,
I'll ring them again on Monday , it's not my only car but I never
even got to that question she just told me I'd have to reside
in the north ,
Maybe I just got the wrong person !!

Ya if you have a policy with axa with 5yncb you can get classic insurance on a 20+ year old car if not its 25 and more expensive you also get 20% discount because of other policy

Just an update,

I had a bit more time on my hands and decided to ring
around before I went with campbells , and I got some
really good quotes , I'm 42 with full no claims and a daily car
1. campions . third party €190 fire and theft €240
2. AXA . full comp Inc break down etc €254
3. First Ireland . fully comp Inc break down etc €248

So it pays to shop around ,
Thanks for all the help ,advice and input on this and
Everything else over the last year !

Happy new year to you all

Did they ask you if your MR2 is modified ?

Modifications put off a lot of insurance companies and they won't give a quote.

I'm wondering if it is the same for classic cars too ?

Only first Ireland asked about mods,
But on the whole they weren't too interested
they seem really lax with the classics ,

Yeah you'd qualify ,
But to insure it as a classic you have to have another car insured
as your daily driver and the mr2 as your second car .

I just spot AXA has FULL Comprehensive Insurance for Driving other cars (up to 50000EUR).
That allow to drive cars up to 2.0L Engines belong to somebody else (no supouse or partner - most likly different household) so match. Just insure any other daily car with them and borrow MR2 from your uncle. It is 20 EUR only.
