Ray asked me to join up so here I am!

I've 3 Rev 3 MK2's, an Auto G-Ltd, a 3VZ in a GT shell and a GTS turbo with all the usual breathing mods, and been driving the MR2 since 2006 (MR2OC member), so new and old lol

After my last Highland Drive, I've been chatting with a couple of friends and we would like to drive around Ireland in 2016 starting from South Wales before taking the South East Coast ferry crossing to Rosslare, skirt around the south and west coast and end up in Dublin for a night on the beer and a respite day the next before we head back into North Wales. We are hoping to spend 4 to 5 days driving in Ireland about 5 to 8 hours a day.

Can any of you good folk advise any good roads to take in or some to avoid? Sights to see? I have a couple of places i'd love to visit/drive through like Blarney, Cork, Kilkenny, Kerry, Galway etc but I'm sure you all know of some hidden treasures!

I can tell you that there is a great bunch of lads here
and that they are very helpful as regards advice.
As for your request "Rain" no real easy answer to that one
you just have to take the good with the bad !
As regards to places to visit,I,can recommend Carlingford
beautiful mountainous scenery,views of Carlingford lough,
and great driving roads.May I also recommend paying a visit to
Newgrange otherwise now known as "Bru Na Boinne",older than the
Pyramids. These are both located in the north east of Ireland.
Google them for more info.

Rain, the more apt question is when does it not rain.

On routes and thing to do, I will get a chance later today hopefully to post some stuff up. I would concur with GB and say that the Antrim coast road up north is fantastic. But there is also Connemara / Achill (mini isle of Skye). Its stringing them together that may be the problem. But we will point you in the right direction, maybe even meet with you all one of the days for an escorted tour

Escorts for the holiday will be welcome, just not Fords

Healy Pass
Connor Pass
Gap of Dunloe
Dingle peninsula
Sally Gap
Connemara

Not decided which way round to go yet due to ferry times (as we are coming from the West Midlands), but might be leaning towards doing Dublin from Holyhead first.

Search for Wild Alantic way, and you can select whatever parts of that you want, you can drive along the cooper coast from Roslare to Cork....

Healy pass and Gap of dunloe are around Killarney, don't forget moll's gap, the black valley, ring of Kerry. Conor pass is around dingle about an hours drive from Killarney. If ye are heading from Roslare there would be a couple of good detours to take on the way like the coast road in Dungarvan, the vee. Great roads in Conemara up to west port. There are some great roads in Donegal like Atlantic Drive and Knockalla.
