I have a 1992 mr2. I am 34, male. Who can I get insurance from in Ireland? Can I get classic insurance?

First Ireland have a classic policy for cars over 25 years old, I use it for my MR2. The only thing is that it's limited mileage and you can't use your car for everyday use (commuting to work etc). If that works for you then give them a call: www.firstireland.ie/

I've been with Caarol Nash since I was 23 on the MR2, seem to be the cheapest by far.

I am with axa, on a classic policy u could try them aswel, u need another policy in your own name.

Quandry, what are the specs for classic. My car is an import is there any issue with that?

mine is a 1993 jap import and I have it insured with Autoline on a classic policy
once you have your own insurance on another car (daily driver) and the mr2 is over 20 years old ... that's all that you show need

Doesn't seem to be an issue - mine is an import too. If they don't ask theirs no need to mention. I think overall they're a bit more lenient on limited mileage policy's as they're much lower risk.

How's it going lads I've got a quote on first ireland but the only requirement are I'm a member of a vintage club. What would the mr2 fall under if this club is not classified as a vintage club.
Any help. As I've received a quote to bring out and could have it at the terenure show

Hi, I was with AXA for the last 2yrs on a vintage policy and now for my renewal they are telling me that they will not cover the mr2 anymore, I tried many insurance company's, quote devil, 123, avia, friends first, campion a few others and all saying the same thing can't cover the mr2 anymore, any suggestions

:/ eek doesn't sound great. Did you call First Ireland? they're a broker so might find some cover for you.

Called first Ireland today, yea will insure as vintage as long it's not a jap import, €275 for a 4000 mile limit per year, so hopefully in the new year,thanks for the help Quandry

This is not directed towards you Steve, but I am so pissed off with these insurance companies. ALL MR2 SW20's were manufactured in Japan in the same building. What the hell makes a European spec so different to an import. Maybe some undercoating and a slight difference in styling. It makes my blood boil

Totally agree, all manufactured in Japan,on difference one be in mph the other in km,now nearly all of the companies I rang will not do Toyota at all,as I was saying I was with AXA and went for my renewal and just told they will not cover a mr2 under a vintage policy anymore, our that brand of manufacture

I'm in the same boat rang 7 companies for classic insurance and no go toyota are on a black list now and we're fucked if we're new getting in to get insurance if anyone has any useful tips let us know cheers.

Yea hard enough getting a quote now on the Mr2, myself and another guy got coverd by autoline in the north, 3000 miles €250 euro over the phone, vintage policy, I'll put the phone number up this evening when I get home also first Ireland will do vintage on the Mr2 if u already have a policy with them.
