Pinion A should be ready in ten working days.

Pinion B has given the manufacturer some problems as it is assembled differently to pinion A. At the moment I do not have a date for when that will be ready.

"Hi Martin

Sorry it's after 4pm - time has just slipped away today.

Regarding your order - the gears are waiting for the next opportunity to go up on our spark eroder which I am told is imminent and then off to heat treatment after which is grinding etc.. Taking all this into account the parts (13/14 off) will be despatched to you w/c: 26th.

I hope this is acceptable."

So I presume from recent posts this is just an update for pinion A people? Pinion B still having issues?

Thanks

I was talking to a engineer yesterday. I believe they are doing their best to get the pinion parts resolved. They had problems with a machine called a 'sparker' but have got another one now. The first ten parts (A) should be shipping really soon. So it will be whoever paid a deposit first for type A pinion will receive the first batch.

Well the manufacturing is moving at a snails pace. Some type A parts have made it out of the factory. One guy seems to have installed his pinion incorrectly, it was not returning to the center. Other people have commented that it is most likely a installation error and not a fault of the upgraded pinion. The same guy disconnected the electronics to convert his rack to a manual and said that it is very good. He has been using it for track days in the UK.

Basch32 I know that you are waiting a long time and I am really sorry it is taking so long. I will contact the manufacturer on Tuesday to find out when they will be producing type B pinion parts and more type A pinion parts.

I wish all the people who joined the group buy had there upgraded pinions installed by now. I was hoping to say that I had contributed a new product to the MR2 community.

Don't give up on it yet though.

Pinion B should (fingers crossed) go into production in around four weeks time along with the rest of pinion A.

UPDATE

This update is for customers waiting on pinions A and B.

"Parts are not ready to go yet. The sparked parts are done but we are still working on those that are milled. If all goes to plan they should all go to heat treatment at the end of this week. Sorry for the delay. Based on this they should be complete w/c: 6/5."

Re: Quick steer pinion 10 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 141
A engineer phoned me last Thursday to ask a couple of questions about pinion B. He said that he preferred to work from diagrams but it should not be a problem to take measurements from the original. When asked about how long they are going to take, his reply was "soon".

He did stress that when dissembling these pinions, that anybody doing it has to be careful as they could be easily damaged.

I will contact them this Wednesday to see when they will be ready.

Good news and bad news.

The good news is that the rest of pinions A and B should be ready tomorrow.

The bad news is that some of the staff dealing with the pinions are taking a one week holiday.

I will phone them on the 3rd of June to make sure they don't forget us.

People who have paid for their pinions to be upgraded will receive a email from me soon.

Nothing . . . . . . . for a while anyway. This group buy took far too long to complete.

There are some Europeans that want lhd upgraded pinions, that might happen.

All parts should be leaving the UK for Ireland on Monday.

mk1rally20v your pinion part will be sent directly from the manufacturer to you tomorrow by courier.

Filthyfil and SFLee has each been sent emails requesting their pinions to be sent to the manufacturer for upgrading.

The rest of the people waiting for their pinion parts in other countries will be sent their parts directly from myself in Ireland. Parts will be sent once payment for shipping has been received. I will try and offer choices on how they will be shipped.
