I'm thinking about getting one of these this year. Just wondering if anyone else would be interested?
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Here's the spec:
True Dual 3" Exhaust System. 304SS construction. 3" B-pipe to dual 3" muffler. 4" tips.
Specifically designed for the SW20 MR2
*Dual layered muffler packing to eliminate unwanted resonance Stainless steel wool & high density glass packing for maximum sound control *Straight through perforated muffler core
*Full 3" (76.2mm) piping from downpipe back
*Hand made 3" merge collector
*Fully polished 304 Stainless Steel construction *½" Thick flanges for a warp free, leak free seal
*4" Slash cut single wall tip
*3" B-pipe stainless steel braided flex section
*CNC bent muffler hangers & brackets w/ custom made hanger braces for precise fitment & alignment.
I believe these can also be made with a hi flow cat in place and are bolt up for all revisions of MR2.
Here's a sample clip of what they sound like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7wMblJTgfc
Regular price is $650USD (approx 450 Euro)
There's a few different channels we could try to get the best price but depends on how many would be in on the buy..

Manufacturer claims a 20-50hp improvement over standard exhausts. I'll try and find out what the db reading is, although I know they are quieter than my Nur Spec R!

Here's some more sound bites from another Berk equipped MR2

And a picture of how someone added a Magnaflow hi flow CAT in to their Berk exhaust to be emissions compliant:
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
His comments:
At first I was a little concerned about some of the clearances, but it has been in there for about half of last summer, including several autocrosses, and there has sofar been no sign of contact with either the cross member or the drive shaft.
I didn't notice any significant difference in power, and there was a very slight decrease in exhaust noise from adding the cat.
Also, a big thanks to Bryan. Not only did he massivly help me out information wise, but he gave me a great price on the cat / small flex section (which I ended up not needing) AND he even modified the cat for me for FREE!

Sorry guys, I forgot to mention, the reason for putting the cat further down in the exhaust is so that you can eliminate the standard Toyota Downpipe that comes off from the Turbo that has the factory cat installed. These are a known failure area and Toyota actually installs a 'failed cat' sensor at the factory as they do not last for ever and can only be replaced with a VERY expensive Toyota genuine article (if running the factory downpipe).
Another area of failure is the turbo charger itself, and factory replacements are very costly. There are alternative turbo kits that do a similar job (Garrett, HKS etc) although these often require an external wastegate. By eliminating the CAT and factory downpipe you can avail of an aftermarket downpipe and wastegate that means you have a much wider selection of turbo's/kits that are available to choose from.
I don't require a CAT for NCT purposes, however I think I might add one as I don't mind being environmentally conscious and these hi flow types are proven to be good at not robbing hp.

I've a few toys to pay off after Christmas, so not sure, just wanted to ask around for a show of hands at the moment. Maybe March/April?

Had a buddy while living in the US, he had the berk exhaust system. It sounded nice and you could fit a 2 liter bottle in the exhaust pipe

Here's some info on the decibel reading. Looks like it will work out fine with the new NCT rules:
I got my Berk Exhaust + DP tested today by an environmental health and safety technician at my University.
He calibrated his machine just prior to the test.
The results were as follows:
1 meter away from the tips, at 3000rpms the decibel reading came out between 84-86dba
2 meters away from the tips, at 3000rpms the decibel reading came out at 82-83dba

I'd be extremely interested in this as my Motoria one is banged up big time! Its rattling and blowing like a bad 'un. Only thing preventing me putting my name down is lack of funds. Being at Uni I don't make enough money to get by and buy fancy toys! If things change in the coming months though I'll stick my name down!

I have one of these exhausts and the downpipe to go with it. I would recommend it to anyone as it is extremely well made and the fit is spot on. With regard to noise it is very good. It is quite quiet at low revs but has a nice throaty rasp to it when you increase the revs.
I got mine from GTS Chris, I believe he is the only UK supplier as at first I approached Berk directly in the US and they forwarded the emails on to Chris.

Hi - sorry for the slightly random first post!
I intend to buy a Berk exhaust and DP in the next 4 weeks (pending a decision from work as to where I'm going to be in March), so I'd definitely be up for a GB if the timescale fits. I'm in England tho, so if that complicates matters too much then feel free to ignore me and I'll just buy direct from GTS Chris

Well good to know and welcome to the site
We're probably not going to get a big price saving, more just looking to save on shipping which doesn't help if we'd have to send it back to you
I didn't check with Chris yet, if you give him a shout, see if he has the Rev2 Berk, they're supposed to be a better fitment. Let us know what you find out

Thanks Quandry... I figured if you were arranging a discount and getting them shipped independently then I could use the discount and get it shipped to me in England. But if you were looking to buy in bulk and get them shipped together then that's not too handy for me.
I'll forget about this then... ta

Well if we can we will, the only thing is that we'll probably only end up ordering maybe five at once and it's not the sort of numbers that will inspire a decent discount unfortunately. So the big win will be on cutting back shipping. If you want ask Chris if he will do a discount for five with one shipped to you in the UK and the rest of us to Dublin and we'll distribute from here? let me know..

Hi guys,
I contacted GTS Chris about setting up a group buy with discount in the UK that you could get involved in. Here's his reply:
Hi Mark,
The margins are very tight on nearly all the new tuning parts we keep instock - so unfortunately we can't afford to give away any discounts in the form of group buy offers.
However, we could arrange a pallet delivery to you in Ireland to help reduce the deliver costs of a bulk order + knock off the paypal fees for you if you can pay with bank transfer payment.
So price to you would be:
x4 berk exhausts £407 = £1628
x4 berk rev3 dp's £155 = £620
Pallet delivery £100
= £587 each for a exhaust and DP delivered.
Normally to Ireland it would be:
Exhaust £420+£35P&P, £160 DP+£20P&P = £635.
Let me know what you think.
Chris
Obviously this is no help to me in the UK, but it might be of use to you guys by saving on postage?

Thanks Chris, that's good to know. The other thing would be how to get the pallet delivered to somewhere central enough for everyone.
Depending on where Ricky2 is located it looks like we need an exhaust shop up around the border somewhere.... or maybe people prefer to fit themselves?
Anyone got any ideas?

If they were to be delivered to Ricky2 the postage transport might be cheaper as he is in the North. If that was done I have no problem going and collecting them in the jeep maybe meet people on the way back down to drop them off. I would be passing your way as well Geoff so could drop it into yours. PM me if you all go ahead with the GB.

I have been toying with the idea of a louder note but this seems a little steep unless the extra bhp claims are true
