Was the clutch release bearing changed with the clutch, if not that could be the source.

Any self respecting garage would do that, if they didn't I wouldn't let them near the car again.

Thanks for the advise!!
Its a constant smooth sound. Can hardly here it, was just checking it out there and its actualy not to bad. In future if i have to get any major work done, i will think about finding a mr2 pro mechanic. Was told there is one in blackrock Dublin near bmw garage but lost the number.

Where are you based, and all the MR2 expertise you need is on this site, bar some of the physical experience might not be there, well from me anyway.

if i was a betting man, id put my money on the release bearing, it should run smooth but if unchanged at time of clutch change, it could possibly start to whine when no presure is on the clutch pedal, simple way of checkin is very slowly apply the clutch pedal, and just as presure is comming on the pedal the whine will stop. then you can be sure its the release bearing, unless it gets very noisy it should not pose a major problem, in my opionion of coarse, im not a mechanic so hope that helps a little

If you're suffering from lag, you're either in the wrong gear or the wrong car!

I live in Rathfarnham! A friend had a rx7 and had it serviced by a bloke in bray who had about 5 rx7s parked up. He told me about the bloke in blackrock. Could always take a spin down to him and ask again. Would it be any help to people on the site?

Shame the original mechanic didn't do his job right. Save all that work being done twice and the additional cost.

Is it an engine drop to change the clutch? Not sure...

Hope it's all good now Chas.

You do not have to drop the engine to have the clutch changed. Apparently it can be difficult to get the gearbox case lined up when reinstalling it with the engine in the car though. It seems extreme, but some people have gone to the bother of removing the engine and gearbox together because of this. It is a time consuming job whichever way you do it.

Picked up air intake from the man "Anto300zx" and going to bring it to Apollo as he said the current system will be coming out to get at the big job so he will chuck the new one in. He starts work on monday and said he is going to flush out the fuel lines as there is a slight drop/pickup in power when cruising.

I would like to get pics but dont feel like he is the type to have time. He got flooded out in the storm a few weeks back. Might get pics of the bad parts after.
