Love the shots of the engine bay
The Before shot looks... roughly like 5 years old.
The After shot looks ... like brand new !
And both taken on a 27 Year old car

I decided it was time to remove this cone filter that was on when I purchased her(eBays finest I assume), and replaced with the original air box cover and an Apexi panel filter. I'd imagine that cone was doing more harm than good.

I've also ordered a Powerflow exhaust from the UK and front and rear Yellowstuff pads, to replace the EBC ULtimax pads which are simply shocking to say the least. Hope to have both on for the next OTD.

Good move, air boxes are underated! I prefer them to the look of induction kits to be honest. Especially in older cars...have you decided when you're going to donate this car to me yet?

Hopefully the exhaust will be straight forward to bolt on, it should be just 3 bolts I think. I won't get to tackle it till just before the OTD day.
I haven't driven her with the new filter in but I can't hear anything other than the blowing exhaust anyway!!
What's the news on yours?

Out with the old and in with the new! The exhaust wasn't due to arrive till 2nd May but it came today
I got the old one off handy enough, I had WD40'd the bolts the last few days I was out at her.
The weight difference is massive, at a guess I'd say the powerflow is just over half the weight of the one that came off.
With the help of one of the lads, I eventually got the Powerflow on and connected but it's not pointing straight out the rear, it's at an angle because of the mounts. I'll run her down to a local place to get them adjusted tomorrow.
The sound is fantastic, it has a lovely deep note and not overly loud. I'll leave the video till tomorrow so I don't p1ss off the neighbours.

Yesterday I replaced the front and rear pads with EBC Yellowstuff pads. The old pads were EBC Ultimax, which were terrible, bordering on dangerous in my opinion.

Front Yellowstuff Pads: DP4453R
Rear Yellowstuff Pads: DP4602R
Ready for OTD19! :D

Got them off brakes.ie they were the cheapest I could find. Email sales@brakes.ie
Email Mick and tell him what you want them for and he'll give you the best advise.
Yellows do need some heat in them though, if you're not tracking it I wouldn't bother with them. Go green or redstuff.

Good news:-
I've fitted a "Bosch 12051" oxygen sensor which I got on Amazon from the states for €30, exact same one sells here in Ireland for €75. It's an item that is recommend to change every 50k miles and I'd imagine the one I took out was in there a long time.
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
While I was under there I found the other end of a snapped wire to my AC which had eluded me for some time. Just need to get some connectors and see if that sorts the AC....not that I need it but nice to have it working since I don't wanna pull it out.
Other news:-
I've been gathering items to fit a rear ARB, the jdm mk1 SC never came with one so fitting one should make a massive difference to handling. I got a rev2 turbo 18mm ARB from got92tubby and it cleaned up lovely. (Pic below)
Another week or so and I should have all the bits to fit it.

Not exactly running right yet, she's sitting on axle stands with half the rear suspension out. Only realised after that the guy sent me struts off an early model and they won't fit. Waiting for him to sort me with the correct ones.
Also need two rear tyres as the wire in one of them failed at the last trackday!
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
All minor issues though
KC back at ya for the ARB too!

No bother you're very welcome. I had that with tires before why does it always happen to a tire with lots of tread left.
Hope the parts come soon

Fitted an 18mm rear ARB from an mk2 tubby today. My SC never came with one, mk1b's came with a 12mm bar. I'm hoping this will help dial out some of the understeer I've been experiencing.
Parts needed:-
Used rear strut housings with droplink tabs
Rev 1 or 2 rear mk2 turbo ARB
Rear ARB brackets and poly bushes
Droplinks
First removed the struts both sides.
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
I had to buy used mk1b struts from the uk so I could use the housings with the droplink tabs (on the right in the pic).
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Good news, I found I have KYB shocks, so transferred them and the -30mm APEX springs over to the new housings
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Fitted the struts back in with new droplinks attached
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
All late mk1s came with the ARB bracket bolt holes and bolts in the chassis, luckily enough that saves major headaches
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Picked up some universal brackets and 18mm polyurethane bushes from ebay
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
ARB ready to go
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Connect her up
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Connect the droplinks
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
So the droplinks are too short anyway, the bar is pointing up when I put the car on the ground. Probably because the car is lowered 30mm.....I'll have to get new ones, maybe adjustable.
Massive thanks to got92tubby for the ARB bar, very much recommended for all your mk2 needs
