All I know is they need to bring out more new sports cars, e.g. a new mr2, celica and a supra and SUPERCHARGE the lot of them! lol

Fixed that for you

Lol Any kind of forced induction is good with me, but I do prefer a whoosh to a whine.
If they did go for an SC on any newer models, they would need to make it so it can run on regular unleaded, unlike their last offering, the corolla compressor which can only be run on super.

@punky I'd say they will do it, from a lot of reading online, most people seem to want that bit more power in the gt86 so it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they do release a factory turbocharged version. I just hope that with any new models of sports car they release that they go turbo from the get go rather than goign to market with a n/a to test the market and add a turbo as an after thought.

Seriously considering buying one of these next year, or a BRZ if i can get a better deal on it.

Worried that i don't do the mileage to justify forking out £20k for one though (i can buy it VAT free). I've only done 5000 miles in my Impreza in 2 and a half years since buying it

I haven't been on here in a while and thought I'd check in to see what was going on.
I found this thread on the GT86 and seen some old comments were I was excited about the GT86 being launched 6 years ago.
Fast forward six years later and I now have my own GT86.

I really love it.
I honestly feel it gets a bit of a hard time online from people who either don't understand the ethos behind it or from people who have never actually driven one. The car does exactly what it's supposed to and is tonnes of fun to drive. Is it the most powerful sports car out there? No, but with 200hp powering the rear wheels, it's certainly not slow either. Plus, if you really aren't happy with the power, it's fairly easy to modify, there are loads of tuning options available, including re-maps, turbos and superchargers.

If you buy an early used example now, I think it's incredible value for money. I've seen private sales for 12 plates go for £8-9K and it's a lot of car for that money. Approved used cars are now at around £12K. It costs about £50 to fill the tank and you get about 300+ miles to a tank. I'd highly recommend it to anyone considering one!

I think you've hit on exactly what we've probably all heard about it being under powered, but that's mostly on the internet where unless you are making 1000bhp, your car is too slow

In the real world 200bhp is all you need realistically, especially if you get your fun on the twisty backroads.

I had the jeep parked up last weekend and when I came back to it there was a GT86 next to me so I had a quick snoop around it. A lovely looking car in the metal imho

The road tax on these is a killer isn't it? I think they are over 700 a year to tax? It's a lot of money on a relatively new car...

it is a bit steep but you only have to pay it once in a year, never minded paying high tax to have something enjoyable to drive. much better value than a tax saving *diesel lupo*

* diesel lupo is just an example.... there are many other boring alternatives

Yeah, it's €700 in ROI and only £250 in the UK.
