Cud be a faulty cold start injector maybe, but in a case like this, ur first port-of-call shud be to do a diagnostic check-essentially ask the ecu what it thinks is wrong.
Fing the diagnosatic terminal under the the engine cover-its a grey or black plug beside the map sensor. with a piece of wire, loop terminals TE1 and E1, this will cause the ecu to go to diagnostic mode and will flash the EML light in the dash. a constant uninterupted flash is no faults, otherwise u count the flashes and thats ur code.
So 5 flashes followed closely by 4 flashes is a code 54-or knock sensor fault.
Do an google search for a list of all the codes and their meaning and print it out, its handy to have.
Remember that the ecu will have many stored/old codes from over the years so disconnect the battery, and wipe the stored codes, give the car a quick drive to let the ecu pick up any present codes

ya i checked all that already, iv basically molested google looking for a cure and haven't found anything, i did remove the cat because it was after melting in on itself and replaced wit a 3 inch de-cat. gonna try new plug's leads, rotor cap and arm next, also have an uprated fuel pump to fit..! also just in case this helps, when it does start it chucks around 500 rpm for about ten mins with my foot barely on the throttle, and then fires up into action and run's almost perfect!

From the sounds of the issue I think it should be giving you error codes.

500 rpm for about ten mins with my foot barely on the throttle, and then fires up into action and run's almost perfect!

Perhaps after 10 minutes it up to temp and the ECU gets the right voltage signal to let the car run like normal. Not sure if that is related to the cold start injector or not.

Any leaky pipes perhaps? Had a similar problem with an IC pipe. It was as if the heat expanded the pipe inside the jubilee clip and sealed it!
It was loose when cold.

it was acting up when i bought it 2 month's ago or that... it had been lying up for a long time before i bought it and because of this problem i got it very cheap! the only fault code i had was a short in the 02/oxygen sensor which i soon figured out was just a loose connection. 1 other thing, when i look at my engine bay say from behind, there is a 2 wire connector with a green and red wire and grey connector on d back left of the engine bay not connected to anything... any of you have an idea what it shold b connected to?

its a rev 2 i think, it has the old rear lights, not the round lense 1's...? and it comes up between the coolant bottle and fuse box, it cant reach anywhere near the airbox, or engine for that matter if that helps... trying to get a pic up but having slight difficulties. sorry for asking lads but its driving me mad...!
