Tuning the MK2 N/A / 3S-GE Engine 11 Years, 3 Months ago

I saw this on another forum and thought I'd share it here for those that might be interested.
I know it costs major £££ when it comes to upping the power on an n/a but still, very interesting to see what needs to be done in order to get more from this particular engine. www.roadandtrack.net.au/images/stories/d...non-turbo_engine.pdf

The 2.2 crank works on the 3SGE and 3SGTE,
Here is what the 3SGE was producing in the BTCC many years ago.
Designation: 3S-GE
Type: Water-cooled, in-line, 4-cylinder,
16-valve, DOHC
Bore & stroke: 86mm x 86mm
Total displacement: 1998cc
Engine management Zytek multipoint, sequential and
system: programmable fuel injection
Power output: Around 300bhp @ 8500rpm
Maximum torque: 220 lb/ft
Lubrication system: Dry-sump with oil reservoir located
in engine bay; Mobil 1 lubricant
Wish I knew what the inside of the engines were made up of.
I reckon a skimmed head, 2.2 stroker running racing fuel with timing advance and inlet and exhaust cams with standalone engine management would see significant results. Would not be for the faint hearted though.
